Ok I'm going over some of the MoC titles I really want and was looking to go ahead and order the 2 Mizoguchi's titles. One of which is Ugetsu. When Criterion sends me one of their emails: "criterioncollection just uploaded a video: A haunting clip from Kenji Mizoguchi's UGETSU"

Are they trying to rub it in or is it quite possibly a hint of things to come?

Criterion posts things all the time. I remember they teased us with L'avventura a few months ago and nothing came of it. The MoC disc also includes Oyu-sama

Watched Gomorrah again for the 2nd time. Having now experienced Italy firsthand the film is a masterpiece. Everything made sense and you get a feeling of Scorsese's hand in some scenes.

So I was able to score a copy of The Third Man on blu-ray from my local library. The disc is in pristine shape, but it didn't come with the case/box art/booklet. I e-mailed criterion and they said they could hook me up with the case and booklet but no box art. Does anybody know where I could possibly find the box art for this?

Thanks!

I wish I had the upgraded packaging. I got the cardboard sleeve edition. Which is probably why CC does not have any sleeve art for you.

Fassbender wasn't born when World on a Wire came out.

Off the top of my head...

Brits:
Mike Leigh has several additional titles that could be CC'd in HD
Shane Meadows, Terence Davies, Lynne Ramsay, Nil by Mouth

Yanks:
John Sayles
Richard Linklater has several additional titles that could be CC'd in HD
Ang Lee has several additional titles that could be CC'd in HD (Can't believe Sense and Sensibility hasn't been released on blu with the huge Austen crush of the past few years)

Most of these could be released by the studios that handled theatrical and I'd be fine with that.

I don't know that English language films are the biggest need, IMHO. I'd like to see that ratio drop.

Goodbye Solo is a gem.

Criterion likes getting behind good, young directors and he'd be a good choice imo.

Hell yes. I would love to see Shane Meadows in the collection.

Lukas Moodysson (particularly Lilja 4-Ever) as well.

Not sure if they are considered "modern", but:

John Sayles
Werner Herzog
Jacques Rivette

For an American born director I'd choose Joseph Losey and specifically BOOM!

If they can release something like Heaven's Gate then BOOM! which has a diehard fan base should be a no brainer.

Pathe DNR'ed the hell out of this release . Can't make a final judgement until I get the disc in my hands but those screen captures look... unsatisfying. My most anticipated release of the year and it seems like they dropped the ball. Criterion should have waited for another restoration. It looks very waxy.
