It is only on DVD but L’enfance nue is worth checking out.

Go with the Masters of Cinema release if you can though. Someone urinated on the Criterion print before pressing:

Well, my copies of Children of Paradise and Les Visiteurs just shipped. I'm as disappointed as others with the less-than-impressive video quality of Children, but this still sounds like the best version of the film currently available.

I ended up buying the Blu ray of Les visiteurs du soir but bought the remastered DVD of Children of Paradise.

Criterion stated in a Facebook post on Monday that they would announce the new titles in a week; hence, next Monday.

For those that didn't see, David Lynch's Dumbland episodes have now been added to Criterion's Hulu Plus channel, in addition to the already available Eraserhead.

Started the Eclipse set Nikkatsu Noir

Ore Wa Matteru Ze 1957 (I am waiting)

The movie as all the right element for a "film noir". A boy, a girl, people and things not being what they seem to be. The cinematography was excellent as well in my opnion and I quickly got myself "sucked" in the movie and the story. Also the performance of the two lead, Yujiro Ishihara and Mie Kitahara was very good. First movie in the set but I am looking forward to the others, it's quite a good star.

Today I opened my copy of Last Year at Marienbad and there was no disc inside. I ordered it during the BN Criterion sale in July along with a lot of other things and had never opened it. I imagine there's absolutely nothing I can do given the time since I bought it, but has anyone had any experience with something similar? The shrink wrap looked like new, with the 2 stickers, so I didn't notice anything.

I agree with the other suggestions, but I'll add Murmur of the Heart. It is probably my favorite Louis Malle film.

It'd be great if you guys could share your lists over there. It could really help everybody who's looking for recommendations and stuff.

Cool. Thanks for contributing. I'll post the results once we get enough votes. You could keep editing your list when new titles are announced. I'll try to update the rankings as often as I can.

Not sure if he's out of office or something but I haven't been able to reach him in quite some time now.

The one thing that ranking has taught me so is that not enough people are watching Secret Sunshine.

Yeah, I was a fan of all of the Nikkatsu Noir films and I Am Waiting was my first introduction to director Koreyoshi Kurahara and star Yujiro Ishihara. Ishihara is also in the second film in that Eclipse set, Rusty Knife, as well as being in I Hate But Love, a sort of roadtrip screwball comedy in the Kurahara box-set.
Interesting: I Am Waiting is the only film in this set shot in the 1.33:1 rather than the usual anamorphic widescreen process.
I thought the films got better as I worked my way the Nikkatsu box-set, so you're in for a treat.
