Well, we'll see. I sure do hope so, there's around a dozen Warner films I'd love to see get a Criterion release.

Le Samourai (wish it was Spartacus but don't feel it)
In a Lonely Place (it's gonna happen sooner or later so why not tomorrow)
On the Waterfront (still thinking this could be paired with A Fugitive Kind)
Double Indemnity (I know, I know...it's a hunch and nothing more)
Lair of the White Worm or The Hunger (pre-Ambien stream of consciousness - just ignore me)

An in a rare burst of solidarity, I think I would buy pretty much anything else people have been tossing out. Yes, even RoboCop. Well, maybe RoboCop.

But The Tenant, Thief, Bicycle Thieves, Tokyo Story, The Spy Who Came In From The Cold, Le Silence de la Mer, Brazil, Badlands, BRD, Wild Strawberries - all autobuys.

Any Tarkovsky, any Kalatozov, any von Sternberg (really any silent, these days) would all likely be in pretty solid 'yeah, what the hell...live and learn' territory.

About the only exception would be Life Aquatic - it just didn't do anything for me. I am kind of weakening on Tenenbaums though so never say never.

Going on most requested the title has to begin with a B.

Someone should twitter or FB Criterion and ask them if that's the case.

The Blob?

We know it's in the works but I had no idea it was that popular

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 3-1
Tokyo Story 6-1
Picnic at Hanging Rock 9-1
Bicycle Thieves 9-1
Grey Gardens 10-1
Sparatacus 15-1
Rififi 15-1
Thinking they might do what BFI did and try to get the other Tatis out before they slip away.

Generally, December is a relatively slow and underwhelming month for Criterion releases. I'll be pleased but surprised if any of the A-list titles mentioned here are announced.

What? December wasn't slOw and underwhelming last year:

Branded to Kill
Tokyo Drifter
The Lady Vanishes
Design for Living

That was a pretty darn solid month. I own all 4 titles.

Of course people are bound to claim disappointment after August, September, and Octover's releases of The Royal Tennenbaums, The game and Rosemary's Baby. We all know those are "going to be the bestest selling CriteriOns evar!!!!!"

Meh, I'll believe it when I see it. I think several other titles have a better chance at holding the title myself. Apologies to peoPle who enjoy the films and I do admit I have Rosemary's Baby on preorder.

I think it is between Brazil and Badlands... there has been so much talk about both titles esp for Badlands always conflicting info floating about on that title.

What about Berlin Alexanderplatz?

Hey, a lot of people in this thread hype it up and it begins with B.
