I asked a question on here yesterday and this pic kind of confirms it for me. Is the lettering on the package for The Game extremely light and hard to read? Even the title and number on the spine are super light.

And while the cover looks great online, in person it looked like a bad print shop job.

i wrote criterion a few weeks back Suggesting that they Attempt to do a release of Aronofsky's 'The Fountain'. I absolutely love that film and would def want to see it get the Criterion treatment. A few years back there was some heavy talk about it actually happening and then.. nothing.

That would be cool...but how about Aronosfky's first effort, Pi? That seems to be a good candidate for Criterion as well.

That would aslo be great, I mean, I think all of Darren Aronofsky's films could should get that sort of treatment. But Especially The Fountain, Its my fav Aronofsky film.

on a side note, i do have the German BD of 'PI' and it has basically all the Supplemental stuff that has been around for that film on it.

Thanks and agreed, everything is illegible (except for the sticker ) in the pic, but the title "font" is very thin and the lettering is light (gray & black) so it was the best I could do. The design probably wouldn't have been approved if it were a major studio release.

Much too dark. In fact, looking the row of CC spines in my bookcase, The Game appears like the black monolith from 2001, an empty placeholder awaiting a real title. If I didn't know what it was, even going right up to it wouldn't help. Shouldn't Criterion reprint this cover art in a legible fashion?

Well, I just got mine, and I can say that is is much better than the 2 discs I saw at Best Buy on Tuesday.

wcrouse: The one at Best Buy was like you described. You could barely see anything on the spine, and the front looked awful; very dim.

When I opened my shipment just now, it was much better. It didn't look like a bad print job. It is actually quite awesome; just like the pic on CC's website.

I would contact them to see if they noticed any discrepency in their prints.

Well, there are clearly two different pieces of cover art going around: one is normal, and one is almost all black with faded print that can't be read easily. So, it is really up to the person who owns the latter if they would like another print. All they'd have to do, really, is email Mulvaney for a 'replacement'.

It doesn't have to be a big thing unless one decides to make it so.

Unfortunately I can't say that I enjoyed it. A few things sort of made it that it was going to be difficult for me to like it,

1. It's a war story. Alright not a typical one but in general I don't enjoy war stories very much

2. Isabelle Hupert. I understand that she as quite a following now after 40 years of acting but I never liked her and I really hated her in this movie

3. Not enough Christophe Lambert which would have help for me

I found the excution of the movie not that well made. Characters just jump around. The character that Hupert played was just plain annoying. She should have receive a bullet in the head before the movie even started. She goes around like she can do everything on her own but yet spend the entire movie always annoying others to help her do her work. Overall I can see why this movie is so well liked but it just did not work for me.

I don't know if ti's me, but it seems that Criterion have a lot more trouble these past months with their packaging and covers.
There has been the sealing issue on almost 10 titles, the cover of Harold & Maude which was redone like the day of the release (which was already delayed by 2 months), and now The Game cover luminosity (I have a copy, and based on G:Box pictures, I don't even know if mine is good or not because it's kind of between his 2 exemples).

Did they fired someone at their QC ?
