Can we throw The Tree of Life into that list?

What the Hell? So it ends a day before Heaven's Gate and the Shochiku Eclipse? That sucks.

Also I bought it directly from amazon. And I just realized the disc is loose inside the case.

Huh. I have both the digipack (from Barnes & Noble), and a replacement case I just got from Criterion last week. Both of them have 715515033329. So that's weird. If you search both on Amazon, two different listings come up. What kind of a fast one did Criterion pull on us...did they make a change to the disc without telling anyone??

Well, I think they were asking for the rumoured 6 hour cut that was talked about a while back.
I guess we'll see that cut when we see the 6 hour cut of The Thin Red Line

How do you know?

Not saying that you're wrong or anything, it's just a surprising move by them.

Too bad, I want that Eclipse set....had forgotten when it came out.

Definitely getting the other November titles that do apply.

I can believe those dates. If I recall correctly, the fall sale always ends the Monday of Thanksgiving week. Criterion usually releases something the next day, which misses the sale. The third Thursday of November (Thanksgiving) is the 22nd, which is unusually early this year. To get the standard three week sale, that means it has to start at the end of October.

Too bad the the Shochiku Eclipse set misses the sale.

Only 3 months between the end of the sale and a predicted Criterion 50% flash sale in February! I have plenty of Blu-rays to bide the time with until then, Qatsi and the rest can wait.

Since B&N ship to England I'll be taking full advantage of this.

I'm trying to do the math.

If the retail price is $39.99 and they're 50% off (with my membership 60% off total), then that will give me $23.99 off each movie, bringing my total to about $16 a movie.

If I buy 22 films at $16, then that would be about $352. I'm going to hope that coupons will be offerred too so if I can get the $8 off an order, etc. then after tax, I'm looking at $370. No?

Edit: I just realized America: Lost And Found, The Seven Samurai, and the Three Colors Trilogy retail for a lot more. Balls.

Well, it's 50% off to $20, then 10% off that, so it's $18 per film. You can probably use that coupon on one of the boxed sets without much trouble.

50% off will make them $19.99. 10% off that will make them $17.99. Unfortunately you don't get 60% off the MSRP, you get 50% then 10%, which is different. But close enough, maybe?

Okay, so let me try to redo this:

$39.99 x 0.6 = $23.99 (so $16 a movie). So the 19 films that retail for $39.99 = $304.

AL&F ($124.95) + 7S ($49.95) + 3C ($79.95) = $254.85 x 0.6 = $152.91 (So $101.94, I'll round it to $102)

So I'm looking at $406, with the sales tax (7%), it's about $435 and hopefully I get some coupons that drop it to about $420

Edit: I just read your posts

I know Seven Samurai and Three Colors are supposed to be really good, but what about America Lost And Found? Is it worth it?

Honestly--I would recommend being somewhat familiar to the films before buying it. I know others would disagree, but I blind-bought and found that I really didn't like the set all that much. Your post a couple days ago in the 'worst movie you've seen' thread reminds me of those, so I can't really recommend it to you as a blind-buy, personally.

I was actually thinking about not buying it.

I already own the Easy Rider DigiBook and there's really only like one movie in that collection I truly want to see, so I will hold off
