There's an ongoing court case regarding the US rights to La Dolce Vita so you probably won't be seeing it from Criterion anytime soon. Hopefully Masters of Cinema will step up to the table...

Welp, I bought both sets.

Chungking Express FINALLY came in today from DeepDiscount and I'll hopefully get my bigger Criterion collection order from the 50% off sale within the hour, and tomorrow Do The Right Thing and Downhill Racer.

It's too bad they seem to have discontinued this feature. I got the Czech New Wave set and lots of others via those specials over the summer, and earned a $50 GC from Criterion.com which came in handy during the flash sale.
I unfortunately did not realize that that code worked on the set. I thought it was only working for Equinox. If I'd realized it worked for this, I would have ordered Equinox and the Shochiku. Too bad.

I remember somebody posted on here about that set being part of that week's special, but since I only wanted that one set and wouldn't have gotten free shipping, I passed... still hope to get it soon. I wish it was released this month instead of next month.

No, that's not one of the initial few that got that kind of 'flimsy-er' packaging. It's supposed to be a digipack.

Despite the fact that I hate A Safe Place and it killed my laptop's HDD, the BBS set was totally worth it for me:

Head, Five Easy Pieces, and The King of Marvin Gardens are all top choice films and are fantastic, especially Head (totally biased there because I'm a Monkee-maniac)
The Last Picture Show was good, Easy Rider was so-so and not quite my cup of tea. Drive, He Said has a few redeeming things about it, as it's the first film Jack Nicholson ever directed, but the protagonist is an idiot.

I recommend the set.

And I'm glad to see B&N is doing a sale after all, seeing as I had to cancel my pre-orders for October/November in a fit of panic at my rental complex. I can't reorder them at the prices I had them locked in at, so it looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer to grab them up again.

Kinda funny, he showed that trailer Tuesday night during the concert. (And the previous (first) time I saw him, he was plugging his first film, still a ways off before it got released, even before it had a trailer.) Concert was pretty cool in that a lot of film clips were being played throughout the whole set.

Every copy of Hunter I have ever seen has a crease down the length of the digipack's spine (at least; some are crushed even more), including my copy.

Does a mint condition Hunter exist anywhere on the planet? Has anyone ever seen one with their own eyes?

Mine is in good condition, to me...although I bought it at B&N and didn't have it shipped to me (which I'm guessing is what would most likely cause damage), although I have had that bad luck with other releases-- I got the Three Colors set in that pretty badly damaged shape, including a couple others (exchanged them though)

I assumed mine was damaged in shipping but I have since looked every time I go to B&N and the ones I've seen there in the store were that way too. Maybe they were exchanges by other online shoppers.
