I'd gladly upgrade. One of very few titles I'd do so without hesitation.

I'm not sure why they didn't knock it out when they had Resnais supervising the Marienbad transfer a few years ago.
I personally love the film, but fear the source material might be the hold-up (although I don't know, and have no real reason to believe that)

I know what you mean. I feel the same way about The Cranes are Flying. Wish they would have upgraded it last year when they released Letter Never Sent.

And I also want to see Hiroshima Mon Amour upgraded to blu-ray.

Both Hiroshima, Mon Amour and The Cranes are Flying are in real need of upgrade. Add Taste of Cherry to those too. Sadly, I don't have high hopes for any of those, they just don't seem high-profile enough (But then films like Fat Girl and Sweetie are upgraded so who knows) .

The Tarkovsky and Hitchcock are great surprises. Thankfully, I never picked up the MOC's 2-Lane release...
I'm a big fan of a number of Masters of Cinema releases, but their cover-art for Two-Lane Blacktop is truly terrible.

Criterion goes 3D!

Another great looking month. They're on a role now.

I'll stick with my Steelbook from Eureka / MoC 'Two lane Highway' but, I can always use another Hitchcock

It would've been nice to see a different Hitchcock Title... Rebecca, Notorious, Spellbound. The just released MGM bluray Copies are crap. I will keep my Criterion Dvd's until the bluray equivalent comes out. Lady Vanishes and 39 steps is great on Blu.

I'll have to watch The Tin Drum if for no other reason than to see what all the hub-bub was about when it was banned here in Ontario more than thirty years ago. I can remember that ridiculous time.

Yeah, Tiny Furniture seems sort of boring.

Thanks for the response.

I was EXTREMELY interested in seeing 'Fish Tank'. I bought it, and sold it after the first viewing....boring film.

Everyone was slamming on 'Tiny Furniture' so that made me really wanna see what the fuss was. after watching it....I agree...very self absorbed, pushed acting. Don't understand why this got Criterion treatment

Cant comment on 'Vivre Sa Vie' though

Easily my least favorite Criterion release I own...the only one I kind of regret buying, despite my sort of being a completist.

I really do love Fish Tank though, I personally found it fascinating and very realistic.

I actually liked Tiny Furniture. Perhaps because I'm younger and am more in tune with what she was trying to do with it.

Vivre sa vie is on my watch list.

Last question:

Is there any possibility of an upgrade for Ace In The Hole, The Ice Storm, or Stranger Than Paradise? Or should I just buy the DVDs if I want to see them?

Yeah, that's true lol

I was just unsure whether Criterion still had the rights to those films or not. I remember reading on here that some films they've released in the past can't be upgraded because they don't own the rights anymore, so I wasn't certain if those three applied

Not sure that has to do with it. I'm 20 and hate her writing, don't find her work to represent 'real' people at all...find it all unoriginal...and most of all, feel as if she's gotten really unfair advantage in her career, as there's young filmmakers much more talented than her that don't have her opportunities.

Just wanted to point out that this is happening tomorrow (Tuesday) night in Columbus, Ohio: http://wexarts.org/fv/index.php?eventid=6543
The Criterion Collection remains the Tiffany’s of DVD and Blu-Ray releases with its unparalleled library of world classics, exquisitely designed packaging, and demanding technical standards. Join Criterion producers Kim Hendrickson and Curtis Tsui for a behind-the-scenes look at Criterion’s operation, focusing on recent releases such as their Pier Paolo Pasolini box set and John Schlesinger’s Sunday, Bloody Sunday.

Stick around for a screening of Sunday, Bloody Sunday, the story of a working-class woman and a well-to-do doctor, both perfectly aware that they are sharing the affections of a young man who bed-hops between them. One of the few films from the era to deal with a gay relationship matter-of-factly. With Peter Finch and Glenda Jackson. (110 mins., video)
