I watched the first episode and was pretty much annoyed the whole time. I grew tired of the woe-is-me, self-entitled characters. Not sure if Tiny Furniture is similar, but if it is, I may have to overlook it.

Girls is a lot more polished that TF, but it is more of the same.

I actually found TF to be mostly harmless bog standard mumblecore entitlement melodrama, but after seeing a season of the show I have grown to despise Lena Dunham's stuff.

She is the Ryan Seacrest of the entitled hipster douchebag set, harvesting very low hanging fruit and inexplicably getting multimillion dollar paychecks out of it.

Thought it was interesting Criterion mentioned William Friedkin's The Exorcist. I don't believe they will be releasing that film, but they tend to mention films and directors they have in their collection, so maybe that means Friedkin will be added to the collection? Perhaps Killer Joe?

You're most likely right. Especially since they've mentioned how Wages of Fear was a template for Sorcerer.

Has Friedkin settled the rights for Sorcerer, though? Last I heard, he was taking it to court.

A decent month, I am extremely happy about Ivan's Childhood and will probably also purchase The Man Who Knew Too Much, although I plan to watch it first as I don't think I've seen it.

Two-lane blacktop I have never seen so I plan to watch that first to see if it's worth buying, the other two, no interest.

What happened to Le Samourai and Badlands?

With films like les diaboliques and Wages of Fear, should we even consider them to be important if they aren't released in France? If the French don't care for them, why should we? How are they "World Cinema?"

Yes, we should, because they are great films.
They are "world cinema" because they are from another country.

Foreign countries released blu-rays like Lawrence of Arabia, Cleopatra, and the remastered Terminator before the US. Should we not care for those either?

Exactly. Also, just because a film isn't released in a country doesn't mean it isn't appreciated there...

Sorcerer would be an instant buy for me. Great movie. I don't think anyone has ever done white knuckle tension as well as Friedkin.

That's how I always describe it . To me, An Education was way too light and...well, "fluffy"...
[Show spoiler]I was annoyed at how the protagonist barely suffers any consequence and honestly would have liked it better had she not been accepted at the end.

"'Sorcerer' is now in the Ninth District Court of Appeals in California. The judge who's caught the case has ordered a settlement conference to be completed by November 26. And if there's no settlement, then he has set a trial date for March of 2013. So we're trying to settle it. And to me, settlement only involves getting the film out on DVD and Blu-ray and loaning it to all the film societies and universities that want to run it. I'm not looking for money from this."

Not if there's a settlement completed by November 26.
