Whats the point of keeping the wrapping on opened BDs? It does little in terms of protection and looks hideous on your shelf AND, most importantly, was only put there to keep things "new" in the store.

Yeah, I don't understand, too, how these people are going to be able to open up their blu-ray plastic cases to obtain the disc if they decide to keep the plastic wrapper on. Are they seriously going to be sliding the plastic wrap off and on each time they decide to watch the film? A bit silly, I think. After all, it is just a sticker, guys.

well it was easier for the original criterion blus (the digibooks) as i could just slip the inner part out leaving the plastic on the slipcover

but i may have to leave this whole process behind with the transparent cases...

well, i kept the plastic on the old BD digipaks because the bottoms were open and when people grabbed them every now and again the inner sleeve would tumble out (Chungking was the loosest copy I had).

The clear cases are such an improvement in both durability and looks that I am willing to forgo the loss of the crappy shrink wrap and any unfortunate stickers that get innocently tossed.

Get over it, they're not even real autographs.

Same here! Well, 8 of them since I already had the Third Man in the clear case when I bought it originally.

Those signature stickers have been on Criterion releases since the laserdisc days... never thought once about keeping them. It's not like they're personally autographed.

I have gotten all of my replacement cases, and, in changing the subject, watched The Last Metro last night. I have to say that I would rate it as an A+. Phenominal movie.

I'd been slacking in actually watching the movies due to my busy grad school schedule. Well this week I caught up a bit - watched Play Time, Kagemusha, Chungking Express, and 8 1/2. Needless to say, it's been a VERY good week! I enjoyed them all, though 8 1/2 was my favorite new film in quite awhile, and Play Time was my most surprising since I had no idea what to expect and I know a lot of people on this board are a bit down on it.

I bubblewrapped all the original cardboard cases into a packaging box & stored them away in a closet

i've known people who have thrown EVERYTHING away but the disc and store them on slipcovers on a storage bin. all they want is the disc, that's it.

as for myself, i dont keep shrink wrap... but i have seen online web stores that sell a clear plastic wrap for a WHOLE BD case. it's for collector-itis people who want to feel like they opening up the shrink wrap or somn precious everytime they watch it or somn.

i've had BDs where the back description is a piece of paper glued on by adhesive. i just cut out the barcode and put that inside of the case and throw the paper away. warner's digibooks come to mind. some of them have attached adhesives on the back. i cut out barcodes.

just in case there's a way to get some $ for them in the future (the barcodes).

Congratulations! Now you'll need to watch "M. Hulot's Holiday", "Mon Oncle" and "Trafic" next...hehe (only on Criterion DVD though).

Btw...for Godard fans...I know this is not Criterion but if you are BD starved for more Godard...I highly recommend checking out the recently released "Une femme mariée: fragments d’un film tourné en 1964 en noir et blanc" from Masters of Cinema (it's non-region) which was released after "Bande a Parte" (Band of Outsiders) and before "Alphaville" (both on DVD from Criterion). That 80-page booklet is awesome!

Yeah I really really want it but with the past deepdiscount dvd I purchased that took forever, I don't know if I want to import something right now. It does take a while right, I never imported?

Oh no...it took about a week or less. Pretty quick! That's one thing that people are discussing in the forums about how things deliver quickly from the UK to the US versus the UK to other European countries. And ordering from Eureka/MoC also has free shipping.

It is a fantastic disc and it shipped to Canada in 4 business days if that helps sway you.

Dude, ordering from Amazon UK is as easy as ordering from Amazon USA. The site even recognizes where you are from and allows the option to view your bill before you checkout in US dollars. They offer two shipping options, one being a 1-2 priority thing which I have never tried and the other being standard shipping. Its about the same as the cheapest shipping option from Amazon BUT for me it usually a day or two faster coming in at about a 7-10 days.

For example, on Friday I ordered Un Femme Mariee and Red Cliff special edition. With shipping my total came to $43 AND it shipped late that night local time. I always order my UK imports on Fridays and I ALWAYS have gotten my shipment by that next Friday-Monday.

Honestly, its super easy and for all we know its basically like ordering from the USA.

Thank you much guys, really. I will love to have this disc. Oh one more thing, ordering from Amazon UK, will it show me the total in U.S. dollars at the end of the transaction or do I just go with UK's total?
