Just bought the War Room for 20 bucks as a blind buy. Anyone here own that one and wants to share their impressions of the disc?

Can't wait to see this in motion.

I was curious, too, once.
If we're talking about the uncut version, flops don't happen by accident--Imagine watching the dreary Kevin Costner "Wyatt Earp", in a pre-Tombstone age before period-accurate westerns were cool, and instead went for Deep Downbeat/Deconstructive Social Allegory.
And given to a director without a sense of humor, who wanted every period detail to be AS accurate and stay on screen for as long--as long--as possible. And then giving the visual impression that everything on the frontier was brown and dusty.
(Insert defenders mentioning a nice scene at a 19th-cty. roller rink, which, yes, is a nice scene, and has precious little to do with much of the rest that goes on in this movie.)

I've defended unjust "flops" all my life, so I know what it's like to be curious, and this one had it coming.

I love it!
This is one of my must-buys.
I've seen it on VHS and once theatrically. Can't wait to own this new blu-ray
However, it's clearly not for everyone and it's bloody long.
Ignore exaggerated claims of it being one of the worst films of all time, but prepared that even now it's divisive.

Just a quick question.

Do all remaining copies of Chungking Express come in a standard plastic case? Or did they never re-press it like that and they all come in a digipack as standard?

Any UK collectors have any experience with B&N? I've never bothered with the sales due to import fees, but I've been hearing B&N mark packages as "Books" regardless of their contents, and thus always get through safe? Is this always the case though? Has anyone here ever received a package from B&N that wasn't marked as such?

YES! Got my copy of Pierrot Le Fou in!

I was browsing around different websites and I thought, hmm...let's check BluraysForEveryone.com and the owner had 2 copies. They were on sale for $32.99 and with shipping it was about $35. The day after I ordered, he brought the price back up to $60, I believe, for the last copy he had. Regardless, I'm really happy with it because it's out of print, brand new and factory sealed, and it was on sale!

If only I could score a brand new and factory sealed copy of The Man Who Fell To Earth and The Third Man for $32.99

I have been awfully lucky on those 3.
I got Pierrot le fou just when it was still widely available even after the loss of rights announce.
I managed to have The Man Who Fell To Earth around 25€ and I find The Third Man a couple of weeks ago for 25€ too.

I watched In the Mood for Love on Blu-ray last night. I only meant to sample the PQ but I ended up watching the whole movie. I hadn't seen it in a few years - not since I got my new TV - and I had forgotten some of the details. Definitely a great movie and an essential purchase on BD for film lovers. I was a bit worried after reading the review, but the picture looked great to me on my 50" plasma.
Maybe a bigger screen would reveal some issues but I have no complaints.

Speaking of out of print titles, anyone who doesn't own Chungking Express should consider picking it up before the price goes up.

I don't think anything would be me happier than if I could find both of those films, brand new, for a reasonable price.

They're fine, I've ordered as many as 5-8 and never had a problem. They can sometimes take 2 months or so to arrive, though, so don't order anything you're in a hurry for. I tend to use them for big box sets I'm not desperate for, I got an excellent deal last half price sale on the America Lost and Found Set.

Blurays for Everyone is also a good bet - if you drop them an email, they'll give you a price for postage for one or two discs. Also excellent at out of print stuff - Sold me a Bad Boy Bubby (Blue Underground) for less than RRP as it was second hand, and OOP.. I can't sing their praises enough.

A heads up for those that might not be aware of it (as I was until this evening). There is a fine arts film channel that premiered on DirecTV (and possibly other satellite/cable networks) this past Septmeber called "Cinemoi" (Channel 259 on DirecTV). I just missed a 1/2 hour program on Truffaut, so it looks like it might have some potential.

Okay I work with computers everyday and when I go on vacation I stay far away from them - so I just got back from two weeks in China and I find out that my fave movie ever is FINALLY getting a blu release.

I'll obviously be keeping my dvd copy but this is just great news.

Loving The Man Who Knew Too Much getting released as well.

Thanks. I'll prepare a large B&N list for next week. I've used Blu-ray4Everyone a few times, never had any problems. Dvdexpress247 are also safe customs wise

If you haven't seen it, they also added the poster to the shop as well: http://www.criterion.com/shop_produc...in-drum-poster

I bought a copy 6 months ago and it came in a digipak.

Does anyone know if Vampyr is likely to be upgraded? I haven't seen the film in ages and I think I might just purchase the DVD.
