Criterion announces when they're going to stop producing them.

Also, you're from RI, and seem so similar to CCFixx, I'll have to assume you guys are brothers, or lovers.... one or the other.

EDIT:

You don't have to act "Fast" when Criterion announces a title is out of print.... you just have to get off your butt and go get it within a couple of months....

Amazon usually still has them for at least a month after too, as they have a decent supply of most titles through various sellers etc.

Chungking Express (rumored by Zen Amako)

I have all of these except for Howard's End. I'd really appreciate any feedback in other rumored OOP titles or links to the rumors/reasons...
You should add Play Time to that list. Criterion lost the rights to the Tati films.

So Howards End was going to last until 2014, now they want to force it OOP because they are angry. Better stock up now kids if you're the type to collect OOP Criterions and/or sell them.

I love how Criterion is apparently exploiting the films. I'm on the fence about this. criterion didn't deal fair, yet Merchant Ivory are being a bit dickish in their retaliation. Kinda justifiable, but st the same time, a bit excessive.
This is when I had heard of Howard's End going OOP...way back in August...now it's almost November, and you can still find copies, but it's still unsure that when and if this does become an OOP title...time will tell I guess...usually I wait till Criterion site announces something to this matter. Do with this info...what you will!

While we're on the topic of OOP Criterions, Amazon's current price for Chungking Express is $20.17, and they seem to have it in stock.

Just in case anyone who wants one hasn't snagged one yet.

Edit: Well, it *was*. It's $23.49 now, which i suppose is still pretty good.

Even though I'm from the south, RI is such a small state that it's definitely possible that iScottie and I have been in the same public bathroom at some point.

I would definitely recommend picking up Chungking Express. The Man Who Fell to Earth and Pierrot le Fou were still available for some time after they went OOP, but you'll pay a high price for them now. My B&N had one copy of TMWFTE for ages, even after it went out of print. Probably should have grabbed it.

My copy of Rosemary's Baby shipped from Amazon but we're getting a hurricane here.

That's not a very nice thing to say to someone after seeing them in a public bathroom...

You know, I thought the same thing when I moved up here 8 years ago, but you would be surprised how much further things seem to be now. Living here just has a terrible effect on you like that. Growing up in northwest Georgia, I never batted an eyelash to drive 2 hours to Atlanta to go see a concert or whatever. Now, however, it's quite the chore to drive just over an hour to make my way up to Boston for a similar event.

I already pre-order some titles for the sale this week at B&N. I guess I'll see the other two RI members from this thread as well.

I'm about 60 miles north of NYC and at the time of this posting, the winds have really amped up. I figure to see the worst of it in the next hour or so and hopefully winds will cut down quite a bit by midnight.

First post here, long time lurker; during the July sale, on the morning the sale started, B&N still had the 'Buy 2, Get 1 free' deal, then the half-off sale hit, and most people were able to take advantage of the B2G1 free sale still. It was pretty awesome. Hopefully that happens tonight. But be aware, it was only open for about an hour or two!
