Here's an update on the new cases with already released movies:

Quote:

Dear ****,

Thank you for your email and for your kind words about our company! Currently, we do not have any plans to change the packaging of the early Blu-ray releases, but it is something we are considering. Please feel free to email me should you have any other questions!

Sincerely,

Jon Mulvaney

This leads me to thinking about the much less pronounced furore over another Far Eastern piece about period politics, and with explicit sex -- Ang Lee's Lust, Caution. But I can hardly believe we've become more accepting of sexuality in mainstream cinema over the years. Granted, I haven't seen this Oshima in almost two decades, so this Criterion will be a rediscovery for all practical purposes. I just hope that the discussion of it remains on the level that Pro-B has established; these things do have a way to get out hand quickly once the film's NC-17 rating becomes widely known.

anomynous -- Thanks for the Mulvaney update!

Now that's one I'd love to see receive the Criterion treatment.

All this back-and-forth with Ran is enough to drive one nutty. I've already sold my DVD.

Just got through reading it, Pro-B. It sounds like another solid effort from Criterion!

I know this isn't the place for this.... but anyone willing to trade their "Last Metro" for my Sealed copy of Chungking Express, give me a shout!

P.S. I'll add paypal etc if someone wants to order one of the pre-orders and ship it directly to me..... then I'll give you Chungking + Cash

I just still have this extra copy of Chungking sitting around........ Maybe the available titles for trade will pick up when something mainstream comes out like Ben Buttons

It comes and goes.... but it's a neon yellow/green looking line, VERY THIN.... and I would think it comes from the master, but it was there in one scene... then another.... then it was gone but came back 45 minutes later.....

I may have to get the time or put up a screen shot (if I can capture it with my camera)

Just wanted to know if anyone else noticed it.

Sorry to quote myself, but I was wondering (since you reviewed this title) if you noticed the phenomena I described above??? Perhaps I should throw it in again, and write down a few of the times it takes place in the film

If you get a chance, could you provide a screenshot so I could take a look? I would be more than happy to offer my thoughts.

Not sure, yet. Have you tried contacting Jon Mulvaney through Criterion's website to see if have they any info about Benjamin Button's region coding?

Sounds like a minor scratch on the emulsion?

Not the right thread for info like this, but those of you who haven't got 'The 400 Blows' yet can get it for $19.99 at Tower.com

For those who have ordered from Criterion.com direct - do you remember what form of mail they use in the U.S. do they send orders priority mail or just first class? seems like what they charge for shipping for one release would over priority mail. I hear they are fast at any rate.
