I just displayed surprising restraint by only pre ordering Brazil and Purple Noon (never seen it, but I love Alain Delon and The Talented Mr. Ripely, plus it seems like Netflix only has a dubbed DVD available). I was going to bite on Traffic and The Game, but I figured I will leave it to chance since I put both on my Amazon X Mas wish list that my family looks at (although they don't know much about Criterion so they usually just get me a gift certificate).

Now, the only way I am buying anything else until I get paid again in two weeks is if rumors of the Indiana Jones sale are true.

I promised myself that I wasn't going to buy any more Blu Rays for quite some time, but I can't miss out on some of these titles for $17.99! Does anyone know how long this Amazon sale is going to last? I don't want to pull the trigger until Brazil drops to $20.99.
I had a smile reading your post because that was pretty much me 7 or 8 years ago. I would see a deal and just could not help myself. I am much better now. I think after VHS, Laserdisc and DVD I just learn to really go for what I really want and not just got with impulse buying when I see sales. After 5 years on Blu-ray I have 380 Blu-ray in my collection. That is a lot I suppose but compared to my collection in VHS, Laserdisc and DVD it's really nothing at all. I still get tempted sometimes and at others I don't buy certain titles and later on regret it a little but overall I am managing pretty good.

After buying 9 CC BDs in the B&N sale, I can’t buy anymore at Amazon (even if there are titles I want at great prices like Sweet Smell of Success and Kiss Me Deadly). The only thing I bought was Brazil at 20.99 after I cancelled my B&N pre-order.

I bit and pre-ordered at Best Buy rather than allowing myself to justify adding another title for free shipping.

Now it's time I pretend to forget the sale. Lalalalalalala

After much pondering I bought Rashomon & Three Outlaw Samurai on bluray from B&N Unfortunately Three Outlaw Samurai doesn't have any special features & I did see it recently but only in its unremastered form

Considered Samurai Trilogy, High & Low, Kuroneko & House till I thought about replay value & I didn't like the way Samurai Trilogy was filmed with ordinary photography (doesn't 'feel' like a classic series). Its a shame but I don't have the budget to buy everything even though I kinda wanted to :/

Purple Noon stuck out to me out of all those Criterion price drops. Can't wait to receive that one.

No!

Trying not to order Anatomy of a Murder and Kiss Me Deadly. Also double dipping on that Unforgiven digi is tempting.

Good choices!

Kiss Me Deadly has a great Nat King Cole song written for the movie, called I'd Rather Have the Blues.

I just caved on Black Narcissus to go with my earlier Red Shoes.

I must have watched my CC BD of Kiss Me Deadly at least twenty times since it was released. Ralph Meeker owns the role of Mike Hammer.

Essential Criterion blu-ray IMO.

There is absolutely nothing "crushed" about the blacks.

The link also shows the cover for Andrew Haigh's Weekend, instead of Godard's...

I have a random thought of my own.

I just rented Fahrenheit 451. All this time, I never realized it was a Francois Truffaut film. And the cinematography was done by Nicholas Roeg. The movie's put out by Universal, which had recently given some of their stuff to Criterion.

So, is there a chance Fahrenheit 451 could be given the Criterion treatment? I think it would totally rock.

Eh, I'm also holding back. Despite the cheaper prices at Amazon, their shipping makes them more expensive than B&N, and I'm waiting almost as long for them.

Also, I did do some impulse shopping on Saturday, which I don't think really was impulse buying to a certain extent, I upgraded my cell phone.
[Show spoiler]Couldn't resist as I absolutely loathe my iJesusPhone now. I have a 4 which I got 2 years ago, and the battery life is shite on it, and it just keeps crashing all the time, and I'm not jailbroken. Apple intentionally makes each new version of iOS crappy for older models to try to get people to upgrade.

Bell had the Samsung Galaxay S3 on for free, and due to the way my current contract is, I had to pay a 185 fee to end/renew until 2015, plus the price of the phone (in this case, free). I was going to wait for February, where I would have only had to pay 35 bucks, plus the price of the phone, which would have been about 20 bucks more than what I paid yesterday. I'm sorry for the slight off-topicness, but this forum is much easier to read and respond to on the new phone, as the screen is the size of the entire iPhone, and it has a much nicer resolution on it. I know people will chuck a spaz over this, but I can actually watch some CC titles for previews (to see if I want to buy them on BD) whilst travelling now, as the screen's large enough to watch a few films casually on, and I have one of those 6GB data plans. In addition, I just finished doing all my Christmas shopping too, so money;s a bit tight.

So yeah, no new Criterions for me, I ended up with 11 this sale anyways, and a large chunk of them should be showing up this week. I have more than enough stuff to watch.

I too would love a Criterion BD of the Bradbury classic. I rarely hear mention of this film when discussing Trffaut's filmography but it's one of my favorites. Roeg's cinematography is outstanding, Julie Christie (in two roles!) is hot, and Oskar Werner captures the frustration of Guy. I also like the idea of the spoken credits.

What are the chances of me receiving the corrected version of Carlos if I buy it now from Amazon? Anybody buy it from them?

On the subject of films that would be nice Criterion releases, I recently watched Antonia's Line, if anyone's seen that, and that seems like a film Criterion would definitely put out. It just had that feeling to it.
