You guys have me hooked on the Criterion Blu-Ray releases.
Just received today:
Gimme Shelter
Playtime
8 1/2
Monterey Pop Festival
Pierrot Le Fou
A Christmas Tale

Seems I may be going down the OCD trail as the only ones remaining are:
The Man Who Fell to Earth and The Last Metro, with many of the upcoming titles on pre-order.

I got my replacement cases today, I ordered January 4th.

To say that "Last Year at Marienbad" needs a custom cover is an understatement. It begs a custom cover. The thing looks horrible.

It has become priority #1 for me.
I'll start work on it tonight.

I wouldn't fault you. Thought it was a decent movie. Not great, but decent. But overall I wouldn't even put Titanic in Cameron's top 5 movies.

But I have a hard time calling the guy who directed The Terminator, T2, Aliens, The Abyss and Avatar anything but a very good Director. Honestly my favorite movie of his is probably The Abyss.

I mean, given I was 9 years old when it came out, it was one of the first times I saw exposed female breasts in a movie. Maybe I'm biased because of that.

All I said someone tried to compare Godard to Cameron and you thought it was a "snob" thing to say? But then you prove me right. I think "The Last Metro" is fantastic..... Maybe it's my sensitive side (it's actually my love of history/war/politics)

Wow, didn't know this Godard guy was still living. I looked it up and that next film of his Socialisme sounds like it will be a very good film.

BTW, nothing wrong with the digipak cover, the embossing is cool, but the clear plasctic-case art looks like a cheap bootleg.

Hmm, I found it to be very emotional as well as intellectual. I haven't been able to get it (or the "My fate line" song) out of my head all day - not that I mind though.

That's certainly a well-done custom cover, and a striking image - but I myself still prefer the original (even the plastic case version). I like the minimalism, and I think the loss of the embossing isn't enough to ruin its charm.

My problem with 99% of the custom covers out there is they are just frames from the film, sized and cropped to fit the cover dimensions. People ooh and ah over them like the person responsible is suuuuch a great artist, but all they did was identify a striking frame from the film and then use some Photoshop skills. I mean, not that it's braindead - there is some decent Photoshopping required - but I just can't get excited about them. I like a cover that says something about the film, and complements the film, without actually BEING a frame from the film. It's one thing to be able to identify an appealing image - it's something entirely different to CREATE one.
