I mean, no offense intended. There are tons of people who like the custom covers so more power to you.

Ok, it's time to put http://www.criterion.com in my HOSTS file so I can't go there anymore - because I just ordered 4 more from the OOP sale.

I know that they took paypal for the cases but do they take paypal for ordering DVD's or Blu's from criterion?

I see all the nice scans for the newer CC cases. These are the newer cases below. Now if someone could find out how to get them, that would be a nice trick. They seem to have an office in Canada if anyone is game.

I'm sure you'd have to click on the "Talk to a Packaging Expert now!" link at the bottom the page, and then buy in bulk if you planned on getting them directly from Scanavo. Other than that, you could always enquire if there are any online retailers that sale the cases in smaller quantities.

Pierrot le fou was in my mail today, so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, anyway Gomorrah arrived 2 days before, and I'm still waiting for Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire. What are your impressions of these movies I've mentioned?

Any loud whispers or prognostications as to which films are on the agenda?

we know what's going on through April. it appears the pattern went from 2/month to 3/month. the hope is that it increases into 4+/mo.

how many criterion DVDs are released monthly? i dunno.

re: packaging. i just got High and Low DVD and it came in a clear case where it's a 2disc on right side (overlapping). i wonder if BDs will come in those types of 2disc whenever there is a need for dual BDs.

I've wondered the same thing. I'm guessing that the eventual release of "Seven Samurai" will come in some sort of 2-disc blu-ray case. The entire film, along with the commentaries, should fit comfortably on one BD-50 disc, and then Criterion should put all the extras on a second BD-50 disc. I guess we'll have to wait and see, though.

Thanks! I just received Brazil and King of Kings from that seller today.

I've got to say, I really like King of Kings 2 disc case much more than Fear & Loathing and M's bulky case.

Just spitballing here, but now that we're past 500, who thinks von Trier's Antichrist could be spine # 666 a few years from now?

If there is anyone who hasn't pre-ordered Revanche, Lola Montes, and Hunger yet, you can get them for $8 cheaper today at wherehouse.com using the promo code : FEBWH.

Each title is $27.97 + 25% off with the promo code + shipping & tax (in IL) = $72.36 vs the $80.97 at amazon.

OK, with the news of the OAR issues of The Ladykillers, I am now a bit worried about all these titles Criterion is losing to StudioCanal. Using old masters is one thing (Ran), presenting a film in the wrong aspect ratio is another.

(And before Last Emperor gets brought up - that was the decision of the filmmakers.)

I dunno, OAR for titles earlier than a few years ago is moot because most directors filmed with the idea that the image might get cropped or opened up.

In this case it doesn't look like a big deal.

I mean, not that it's braindead - there is some decent Photoshopping required - but I just can't get excited about them. I like a cover that says something about the film, and complements the film, without actually BEING a frame from the film. It's one thing to be able to identify an appealing image - it's something entirely different to CREATE one.

Kind of Criterion related since it's posted over on their site. Courtesy of SlateV.com... how the Super Bowl would look like if directed by five "famous" directors.

Does anyone know if Criterion has keep case replacements for Chungking Express?

I don't know about you guys, but all these odd cardboard, digibook, etc. etc. cases gotta go! =)

(don't wanna piss anyone off, just my opinion).

Anyways, anyone who can answer my question is appreciated!
