The news of them having ATG Oshima got me way too excited for this slate announcement.

They haven't even got around to the ones they have had for a while. The ATG ones will either be dumped in a Eclipse set or will take a long time to come out.

What I hope is Criterion picked up more from ATG like Terayama. Now that is a filmmaker I will be more than excited seeing announced.

Agreed. So much that has been mentioned before that I'd have taken over these..I'm disappointed with what it seems may really be the selection.

That sort of deal would also be consistent with the 'in for a great 2013' comment. That still makes me think that 'big' refers to something beyond just today's announcements.

Even the DVDs of his films look pretty shabbly... although Pro-B mentioned the other day that there seems to be a strong HS master of La Belle Noiseuse out there... just no one's released it.

I think we may be reading way too much into "big".

Probably, but it just seems odd they would call attention to themselves by even saying that... unless it was something substantial. They usually play it pretty low-key.

Probably marketing to what they believe is the entire consumer base with "Big" = Badlands because of their Facebook wall drooling over it.

Truly, Pastoral deserves its own spot in the mainline. The more ATG, the better. I'd also love to see them put out the Shinoda-Terayama films they have on Hulu at the minute.

I hope it's not a boxset of The Big Bang Theory.
