I just signed up for Hulu Plus and am super impressed with their Criterion offerings. It's not blu-ray quality video or audio but it's very solid.

The fact that the movie box has the word "Movie" in blue is what caused speculation.

Terrible movie, but if that's the case, the ONLY way it would be interesting is if the original cut is included (when it was still called F**k, not just the last 3 reels that made up the re-edit of the re-titled "Blue Movie".

Rather have Repo Man x1000.

Oh God, I thought you meant he'd be directing. Might be alright if they make him a silly sidekick or something. As far as Gareth Edwards direction goes, I hated Monsters, so if he pulls the same bouncey-cam style on Godzilla, and uses the same cheap techniques to hide the actual creatures, I'll probably hate it too. Both movies better not end the same way either.

They could include as an extra the Blue Movie book.

I've never seen the movie so I'm not sure how good it is, but how about Boxing Helena as a Criterion candidate?

The DVD goes for almost $70 new from Amazon.

We're nominating movies we haven't seen based on dvd prices now? That seems like a good way of doing it.

No? Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I think the movie sounds interesting, but I haven't seen it because I don't own the DVD and a new copy costs about $70 on Amazon, so I don't feel like spending that.

On a side note, I didn't know that they were making a new "Before" movie entitled "Before Midnight", so hopefully that's a good sign of Before Sunrise and Before Sunset possibly coming out and within the next year, since Before Midnight is rumored to come out in 2013.

+1 Those two films are near the top of my most wanted on Blu-ray. Great, great films

It'd be even better if he were directing. It's going to be horrible no doubt but I'll probably pay to see the train wreck

Zero chance. It's not even worth $7. Jennifer is no David.

Made. They wrapped shooting a while back. I'm excited for the new film, plus the possibility of the other 2 getting released to coincide.

It might just be me, but I would actually like to see this happen.

Im just jumping in to ask a question for anyone. Do you think Criterion will release films on BR from its collection, something like "Grey Gardens" or others which may not really benefit much from an HD format?

So when the new years cartoon comes out soon, besides Wild Strawberries and Y Tu Mama Tambien for the 3rd year in a row, what repeats will still be on it?

They've already teased Grey Gardens on blu if that answers your question.

Default Godzilla ,Monsters and Boxing Helena

This Godzilla remake has been in the pipeline since the beginning of the year. At Comic Con they showed an exclusive teaser trailer with all concept footage made with ILM's help. I actually dug Monsters considering how dirt cheap it was. It cost like less then $200, 000 and the effects were done on a laptop. The scale of the film was pretty enormous all things considered. Yes it has a lot of handheld shots but it's by no means a Bourne or Michael Bay film. Boxing Helena I saw in theaters and thought it was nothing special. I went to see it for Bill Paxton and the fact that this was a film from David Lynch's daughter. Never saw the uncut version. Maybe I would need to revisit before truly passing judgement.
