It's definitely NOT going to be 'Frozen,' but that's the first thing I thought of when I saw this cover: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10012051-frozen/

If you're expecting Criterion to come out and say that all of their original releases with digipack packing are depleted, I don't think you should hold your breath. First, Criterion will need to deplete all of its current digipack inventory, which will then follow-up with all resellers selling through all their current stock before any new copies begin to be distributed. Aside from "The Third Man," which is OOP anyway, ordering any of the other 8 digipack releases from an online retailer is going to be a wild card as to what you receive. Until reports start coming in from people receiving them through the mail in the plastic cases, I suppose you can assume that they're all still going to be in the cardboard packaging.

Just saw this on the CC facebook.

The Criterion Collection: Ask again later...

Couldnt figure out a better way to get it on here. But CC responds to his question "Ask again later..." as I have highlighted.

Thought this would interest some people.

CC staff is normally consistent replying to posts on their facebook wall. But, I asked about The Thin Red Line last week and received no reply, oddly.

Fingers crossed. I'd double dip for a Two Lane Blacktop blu-ray too. Don't have the criterion version but the old Anchor Bay.

thx for the info, I'm under the impression that you know everything around here("the blu-ray world"). Are there any news on a Jarmusch BD release? I'd especially like to see Down by Law or Dead Man.

They've eased up on answering questions since the new year began. They were simply getting overwhelmed. They now plan to do some chats in the near future rather than answering every message posted on their Facebook wall.

Not to mention that they get like 8,000 requests/questions a day and often don;t comment on anything until its concrete or the licensing has been dealt with.

Down By Law seems likely at some point because it was offered as an option during an Amazon poll to pick a Criterion BD release. It may not be coming out soon but I would think its in the pipeline.

Oddly enough, Howard's End was the title chosen...easily the worst of the options offered...hopefully next time they offer a poll option they limit to boards like these or Criterionforum and not Amazon where every tool votes on it...

Now that you've mentioned Howard's End, I've taken a closer look on all the BD's Criterion released and it's like the only "intruder" there, alongside A Christmas Tale(even though I haven't seen it, it just looks like that). I hope Jarmusch or Tarkovsky will get a BD release soon.

Oh, "A Christmas Tale," in my opinion, is a marvelous film. I was upset by the fact that Criterion was first only going to release it as a DVD. So, I was quite ecstatic when they changed their mind to include the blu-ray, as well. I think it definitely belongs in the collection.

And on a side note as a pet-peeve of mine... "Howards End" has no apostrophe, you silly forum members. It's the name of the estate in the film... the "End" is not "Howards" ownership, so there's no need for the apostrophe.

Agree about A Christmas Tale - I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

As for Howards End - damn. I was hoping there was someone named Howard, and he got a violent but deserved "end." Now hearing it's just about some stupid property, I don't know when I'll ever watch that one!

Seriously though, haven't been able to muster any desire to actually watch it. Maybe some rainy day when I'm bored to tears.

I'd be willing to bet that Kwaidan or Down By Law would have sold more on BD than Howards End. The problem with using Amazon as a generic poll is that the majority of the people are just casual viewers and likely NEVER even bought the film on BD or even collect Criterion titles.

The fact that the title won is proof of this.
