I'm inclined to think Looking for Mr. Goodbar, just because the cartoon woman could be Diane Keaton, but I'd be just as happy with Repo Man.

Looking for Mr. Goodbar
is a movie that I've wanted to see ever since Stephen King pimped it in his Danse Macabre book. I don't think that it has ever been available on DVD or Blu-ray, though. It's the sort of flick that's right up Criterion's alley, though.

I love reading the Facebook guesses. Somebody guessed The Towering Inferno.

(...and I "liked" that guess, because I'm a huge fan of The Towering Inferno.)

I did chuckle at this guess

Some of these guesses are just so...out there, though.

Badlands (it's already been announced)
Back To The Future (why?)
Bringing Out The Dead
Hudsucker Proxy (where do they see this?)
Network (based off the Scanners guy)

Somebody else mentioned The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover. I don't see what could be that, though. Another person mentioned that the way the windows are angled, it could be Rear Window.

I do like somebody's post, though. They said that the nine stories of the building could be hinting at an upgrade of Robert Altman's Short Cuts.

EDIT: Now they're saying One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Autumn In New York.

The little girl next to the samurai and birdcage in "M" throws me off. I don't see Leon: The Professional as being the type for a Criterion release, but I could be wrong. On the other hand, Leon did not keep a canary cage in his apartment, and Jef Costello in Le Samouraï did. Maybe both will be released. I dunno.

But he did frequently keep his plant on / near / out of a window, though. The birdcage could be a substitute for this.

Is it possible that letter M alone could be:

Kid
La Cage Aux Folles
Le Samourai
Leon: The Professional

I don't know enough about the first two to predict.

I'm pumped about The Tenant, if that's indeed one of the correct guesses.

A) My optimistic film sense says Safety Last (especially since the Lloyd estate is legendarily tight about rights, which would make C jump at the chance), but somebody else wishful-fanboy guessed Hudsucker Proxy, and....(sigh)...it's Criterion. You tell me.
B) 3:10 to Yuma (original, I'm guessing)
c)
d) The Floating Leaves?
e) Man on Wire seems too obvious, and The Circus would have something a little more scene-specific
f) Looking for Mr. Goodbar
g)
h) The Gates of Hell
i) The Devil's Backbone
j) Naked Lunch?
k)
l) Eraserhead
m) The Kid, Le Samourai (I'm assuming Fox still has La Cage too tied up)

Now, as for all that music in the air...

Yeah...I selfishly hope it's a "light" release (little to no extras), as I bought the MoC version. Considering the MoC version had no extras at all, I wouldn't be surprised.

Well Oshima's Boy clue is probably All That Heaven Allows instead, which is still cool, but hopefully the ATG Oshima films still come this year.

That'd do it.

(For those who haven't seen any Harold Lloyd yet, it's funny even before he starts hanging off the ledges. Chaplin did pathos and Keaton did Wile E. Coyote, but Lloyd specialized in getting into embarrassing situations.)

WAY too obscure.

If I remember correctly, Hucksucker Proxy has been announced by Warner Archive to be released this year for their Blu-ray MOD release so I don't think it will be released by Criterion.

I don't see G being anything other than Scanners, which is super exciting. Always love to see more Cronenberg in the collection.

Yeah The Hudsucker Proxy is indeed going to be out through Warner Archive so I too seriously doubt a criterion release is likely.
