Not a chance. It's a live action 1980s Disney film. It's hard enough to get live action Disney films Disney likes out on blu.

I'm just waiting for the 48fps, 3d, vibrating seat, Michael bay version of The Old Man and the Sea. The Marlin will have balls and be part robot.

Don't forget cut to the latest hip-hop beats, straight outta the Roaring Twenties.

I know this to be self-defeating, but there is only the slimmest of chances that this film could be palatable.

No, Santiago's now going to be female and played by Paris Hilton. Uwe Boll will be directing the sequel

Nope, just a librarian, and a fast reader.

I was one of those kids who got in trouble in class for reading books, instead of doing my school work. I also used to piss off the teachers during group reading because I couldn't stand waiting for the class to read the chapters outloud. I'd be on chapter 6, while the class was still on chapter 2, and then I'd have to figure out what page I needed to be on when it came around to my turn to read outloud. Mother also thought it was wise to give me classic literature at age 6. My American Lit prof couldn't believe I was read Poe short stories at that age. I think she thought my mother was a horrible parent.

Admittedly, a few of the books I've read were YA/Children's. I did read all 5 ASOIAF books in about a week though. I'm currently trying to clean up and transfer another 250 books to my ereader.

Oh man, indeed. Something wicked brings back crazy memories. Of course I am terrifically partial to Bradbury, seeing as he was born in my dinky and dumpy town of Waukegan. And the fact that Truffaut did the film adaptation of 451 (I'm still baffled by that!) brings it back to criterion

I do very much want to see Something Wicked on Blu. It would be an absolutely stellar film in the criterion library, although I don't believe they have really handled "family" style films. I know there might be one or two that might be during for later teens, but most of those that are suitable tend to be foreign with no dubbing, making it a little less suitable for kids under 12ish.

Would you like to be a pepper, too?

Can you imagine if Criterion took up Short Circuit?? I'd buy that in a millisecond

Not all of the film TV adaptations were as good ad their books, although on a fee occasions the film was better than the book. Some, such as Eye of the Needle, were par. I enjoy the film, though many might say It's poor.
I hope that you don't mind, but I will probably always imagine you looking like this in person...

On the subject of Eye of the Needle, I have a DVD with Eye of the Needle and Gorky Park on one single disc. I got a lot of mileage out of that DVD after I found it at a used store a year or so ago.

I think some people will buy a Criterion no matter what the title is and just convince themselves of it's greatness because it has a spine # and a big C on it. Imagine BREACKIN 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO the Criterion bluray. Commentary by Turbo and Ozone, "How to dance like a pro" feature, the locations today, trailer, etc. People would come out of the woodwork saying this film is truly a great insite into the dancing scene of the 80's were fashion , passion and cardboard meet with a vengeance versus greedy land developers. All joking aside, what I'm saying is I want this Criterion!

Gee...it sounds like I'm the only one, because I've never heard of anyone else who gets every item from them about a week after the estimated arrival date. I used to assume there was some sort of problem and contact them about the item not having arrived, but lately I've just accepted that I just need to wait a couple weeks or more.

Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo > The Life Aquatic

There might actually be some merit to this.

I'm a girl. You're new here, so therefore you're excused. I'm sure some of my OMG Peter Tork is teh pretteh would have popped up eventually, but you could have just presumed I was a gay man or something.

Not really, I'm so used to people thinking I'm a man on this bloody forum, because apparently "girls are stupid and have cooties! they don't appreciate film or HDTV!" Thus, 98% of this forum is male and there are a multitude of unintentional and intentional sexist comments/avatars.

I should just put in my signature I'm a girl or something.

I haven't watched the film in awhile, but a lot of it is really close to the novel. There were a few slight changes of events, and some stuff was cut out obviously. I highly recommend it.

Warning. Some might be offended by the portrayal of the black crew members in the novel, as they have the ebonic accent and are seen as totally stupid.
Great. Do they humanize the agent of change more in the novel? He was a bit one dimensional in the film, but then again that's kind of the point.

So... Librarian, for my next read: Lolita or Catch 22?

You mean Keefer? Yeah, he's less one-dimensional. Maryk is still the bloody fall-guy.

Catch-22. I hated Lolita the first time I read it, but it's growing on me. My mistake was watching the Kubrick film first, and thus, I prefer the film to the novel. James Mason makes Humbert slightly less detestable. He's still a total skeeze, but the Kubrick film was far more enjoyable than Nabokov's novel, IMHO, despite what others say.

Getting back to our dear friend Capote, I was rewatching Breakfast at Tiffany's and I have major issues with the film, and I don't mean Mickey Rooney. I enjoy it a lot, but it's so vastly different from the novella. Hepburn makes Holly far more sympathetic.

Oh, sorry about that. Of course, I did not necessarily intend for the Burgess Meredith "Time Enough At Last" joke to be gender-specific, because I was paying an offbeat compliment to your enthusiasm for reading.

I am a voracious reader myself, although I'm at a standstill in the middle of Les Miserables now, because I'm going through a constant movie-watching phase.

I am not always adept with figuring out genders on this forum, but I tend to treat everyone the same here anyway, because I don't need to know someone's specific info to discuss Blu-rays. I guess this approach can land me into trouble sometimes, though.

Duly noted. I can imagine Kubrick stealing much thunder from all the novels he adapts. I'm so thankful I read A Clockwork Orange before watching the movie.

Has Hepburn ever played an unlikeable character? She was still charming under all the dirt, grime, torn clothes and lack of education in My Fair Lady. Speaking of Audrey, I've been turning my little brother on to Hitchcock so Charade pretty much fits in the curriculum. I wonder how well it plays the second time around
