Sorry for going off topic but, as I've said in other threads I only have a region B player (ps3) and I was wondering if anyone of you also have a region 2 player and have been successful in playing CC blu rays on your players?

It sucks that there really isn't any region free players out there because there are a lot of titles that I want from CC.

Speaking of Audrey, I've been turning my little brother on to Hitchcock so Charade pretty much fits in the curriculum. I wonder how well it plays the second time around
ha, I actually read ACO prior to watching the film as well. I own it, but the novel blows it away. A lot of the symbolism was lost due to Kubrick adapting the edited American version.

Holly is a total ***** in the novella. I wish she had more of her claws and that they kept the ending.

I am not always adept with figuring out genders on this forum, but I tend to treat everyone the same here anyway, because I don't need to know someone's specific info to discuss Blu-rays. I guess this approach can land me into trouble sometimes, though.
It's OK, I was just stating some observations about the forum, and how it is predominantly male.

I'm still on Wolf Hall. I spent more time than I planned playing with ebooks. Had to concert bunch, fix up covers and metadata. I'm night as fussy about music metadata, unless it order on the iPod, but ugly book covers with incorrect spelling and metadata drives me nuts.

Lolita, all the way. Lolita is one of the greatest love stories ever written, and one of the great travelogues of all time. (In the name of full disclosure, Lolita is one of my favorite books. I also have a PhD in English, as if that validates my opinion

I'm not sure it would make much difference. You had to remind people you're a girl once a month even when you had the Josie and the Pussycats avatar!

Yeah, Im planning on reading both in the upcoming month. Ive been meaning to read Lolita for years (well, four years ago as a Freshman in college). As a matter of fact, Lolita was THE film that opened my eyes to classic (ish) film.

You should dive in immediately!
I watched mine chronologically, but it doesn't matter at all.
The whole set is a lot of fun.

I LOVED the two Suzuki BDs, so I fear the box set won't live up to the quality (or non-quality) of those.

Films should never be an obligation.
I've either been underwhelmed or unimpressed with Baz Luhrmann, so Gatsby is not even on a list for me at the moment. Perhaps if Mrs Drbikeshorts wants to...

Oh how sadly true. It's a sausage fest here, sadly. And as stereotypical as it may be assuming the majority of us are male, we are equally prejudiced in assuming we look like this:

As for the confusion, I think your name is the starting point for why people are a bit confused, I'm guessing 90% of the people just assume you're a dude named Graham.

As to the metadata, that drives me insane. I've devoted entire days fixing missing art. I despised nothing more than having incorrect or missing artwork. If I couldn't get the art corrected, there was a 70% chance I'd just delete the music, no matter how good it was. It was THAT annoying. Same with eBooks. Sloppiness and inconsistencies drive me insane.

Hey, I've been tempted to cart around that avatar. That movie rocked my world. I never got into the series, but that movie. Rachael Leigh Cook is the most amazing thing in the world.

To quote most of the films in the 50s: "That girl's got spunk!"

No you shouldn't. Because the regulars here would miss out on these amusing mistaken gender posts followed by your explanation

Nabokov was brilliant, especially considering English was his third language. Check out Pale Fire, Pnin and his translation of Eugene Onegin as well.

Don't worry about not liking them.
If you like Japanese films and genre films, you'll love the Nikkatsu Noir films.
There's even a Suzuki film in there as well.
When you're finished with them, you'll need to get the Koreyoshi Kurahara box-set as well

I just re-watched the Jeremy Irons-Adrian Lyne version that caused such a stir in the 90s... and in many ways it bests the Kubrick version IMO. I still prefer Kubrick's film overall, but Lyne included a lot of nice little touches from the book (and also was able to make it more gratuitous, which caused it's Showtime release).
