Different version of Josie and the Pussycats. I can't stand the live action film, but love the crap out of the cartoon series.

My name is an online alias I've been using for 10 years now. It's kinda stupid as to how I got it: 13 Tales from Urban Bohemia by the Dandy Warhols had just come out, and I was listening to the album non-stop. I was also a huge, huge, huge fan of Graham Chapman and Monty Python. That's how Bohemian Graham came about. Lame, I know, and it was ambiguous.

Glad to know I can be entertaining!
Wow. I would have to say that your name is probably the most obscure and convoluted combination of already obscure things that I've ever, EVER seen on the internet. And that's saying a lot!

As for Josie, I have to admit the live action movie is a true guilty pleasure. Had Rachel Leigh Cook and Parker Posey not been in it, it would be crap. But I was about 23 when I saw it, it was filmed near where I lived, Rachel was almost the same age and I still had this messed up mentality that I might possibly have a chance with actresses/famous people =/

I watched it about a year ago with my daughters and while it doesn't REALLY stand up, there is still a bit of magic there... just a bit

I'm actually somewhat surprised no one has asked you for a pic yet, I think the second most guys find out there's a girl behind the keyboard, they MUST know what they look like. Hell, I'll admit I've been known to be that kind of person, but I think it's more curiosity than pervyness... mostly because I have a much higher respect of women in the world versus men. Though when I find a guy who is intriguing, I'm equally as intrigued in how they look. Like our wonderful Owl here

*****, I asked you in 10 different languages if you if you like Pineapple. I come up to you in bar with my A material, I expect a reply. In fact, I was up until 4am in my underwear eating 30 cans of pineapple thinking of that line. Now, do you like ******* Pineapple!!

I enjoyed the 2nd story more. Also like the girl in the stewardess getup

This is not a complaint, because I'm happy to be in the company of fellow fans of that movie. I've also noticed that, no matter how obscure, offbeat, or "bad" a particular movie is, one can always find fellow fans here. I've never seen Ticks, for example, but I find it oddly refreshing that so many people here are so excited about the Blu-ray release for such a film.

Of course, if someone wants to know more about me, a good place to start is my blog that pretty much has absolutely nothing to do with Blu-rays, although movie references sometimes pop up few and far between.
Well it is good to know there is at least 40 individuals in this forum with good taste.

We need Le Samourai criterion release soon, ASAP

How is the PQ on Stalker? Too bad it hasn't got the hd treatment yet, I really want it on Blu.

If it's the same Kino DVD version that I have, then it's a good viewing with a lot of room for improvement. I'd love to see a thorough restoration of this movie.

Amen. I hope that Criterion knocks this one out of the park with the picture quality, so they can take their time. The sooner, the better, though!

I love Criterion but they're not perfect. Remember Armageddon on DVD? That was a huge "lolwut" moment for me back in the day.

That being said I would wager a large sum of money that an Armageddon bluray would be the best selling title of the year for them if they were to bring it out. Which begs the question, did our beloved criterion release it just to make money? Or do they really believe it to be an important film. I've never been able to figure it out myself!

To me that's a fun novelty item to have. Something to bust out when I'm entertaining guests, just to show off the case. It's always a mind blowing moment.

These are all they had during their Laserdisc days.
It's possible but the world is a little different now compare to when they were able to get these releases from the Hollywood studios. I think that many of the titles you list, the major studios would probably release them instead of having it done by a third party

DVD as really change the way Hollywood look at distributions and releases of movies. It's also possible that Blu-ray now change their way of looking at the way they release as well but I don't see them (Criterion) having the chances to release many of those titles they had on Laserdiscs once again on Blu-ray

While The Rock was released on LD only to begin with (though got a DVD release years later) Armageddon was announced by Criterion for DVD and LaserDisc at the same time. It was the last LD title from them before going DVD only. The rumour was they originally intended to only release it on LD but Disney insisted they release it on DVD as well. I remember that announcement rather well, and still recall the meltdown that happened because of it.

"Zulu" is available as a great-looking, cheaply-priced, uk region-free import and it's unlikely to ever look better, Criterion release or no. Sparticus is out in a not-badly produced issue. Would love to see Once Were Warriors come out in any blu-ray format.

Ellie is female incidentally and agrees whole-heartedly with some the earlier comments!

Not sure if this has been posted but Criterion Cast just retweeted:

@CriterionCast: “@KentWms: Been hunkered down this whole week doing drawings for the new Criterion Lord of the Flies DVD.”

Blu-ray incoming? I think yes.

It's out on a region-free Blu here in Australia. (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Once-...Blu-ray/57190/ and http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/d...edition/674078)

I'm sure one of us Aussies could help you get a copy if you were interested.

I saw Mother Joan of The Angels last night. This is not a Criterion title, and I only saw it on DVD but it will appeal to those fans of Criterion who like classic art-house cinema. The plot is based on the same incidents that inspired Ken Russell's Devils, but this film takes a more serious and significantly less salacious take on the premise, and the major focus is on the priest who comes to "cure" the possessed nun of her affliction, but finds his own religious faith being eroded. Imagine if you will some Bergman mixed with a bit of Black Narcissus and a small dash of Hammer Horror. The camera work is not very flashy but very solid, always choosing the right frame, and there are several iconic shots. Highly recommended as an interesting watch.

While I didn't LOVE Silver Linings Playbook, I couldn't help but thinking of a particular scene when I read this post. Poor Piggy. Wait, is that a spoiler?

Well, it would look better without all the DNR, but will anyone go back and fix it? It certainly could look better.

Thanks for that mate! But the link is showing the release as region B?

I'll have to defer to HDGoofnut posting to the same question in another thread: "It has mild to moderate DNR depending on the scene, but it still blows any DVD edition away."
