It did actually make me think of the old Criterion cover for Straw Dogs, though. I no longer own that DVD, because someone offered me $75 for it years ago. That was a lot of money, but seller's remorse still creeps up on me from time to time.
Yes, I remember the image. It scared me off Straw Dogs for years!

. I totally agree. I am glad that someone else shares the same comedic subjectivity.
SAFETY LAST is great fun (especially with a large, receptive audience and a live score), but I still like THE KID BROTHER and THE FRESHMAN better.

And I, too, feel that Chaplin is undeniably a great comic artist, but Keaton and Lloyd are actually funnier most of the time.

Now it is officially a party of Lloyd and Keaton fans. Cheers to you too.

We'll just have to wait and see if I am also correct about 3:10 TO YUMA and MAN ON A TIGHTROPE.

So after watching The Man Who Knew Too Much and being speechless (at just how well a movie from the 1930's could still be so effective and timeless), what else should I look into?

Walked into best buy today and there's a few I don't own yet that I thought about buying.

The Killing
Anatomy of a Murder

I'm just jumping onto the criterion bandwagon so any suggestions would be welcome.

In that case I'm in!
Actually, have not seen enough Lloyd and haven't seen anything for ages.
I love Keaton. The General is a masterpiece and it's impossible not to love films like Steamboat Bill, Jr.
I saw Sherlock Jr for the first time recently. So great
Many years ago I was able to see a lot of his films. I always remember completely losing it over The Cameraman. Any sign it coming to blu-ray?
I've been working my through a 4-DVD collection of Keaton short films. The first two discs are mostly two-reel Fatty Arbuckle films with Keaton in supporting roles.
I've recently come around on Chaplin, buying Modern Times, The Gold Rush and The Great Dictator.

Both!
If you like Hitchcock, perhaps consider getting The Lady Vanishes and/or The 39 Steps.
If you like Peter Lorre in The Man Who Knew Too Much, you should definitely have a look at M. His impassioned speech in that film is exceptional.

Criterion collection has a diverse catalogue. I guess the next question is: What are your favorite genre?

These are some classics:

Belle de Jour
Three Color Trilogy
Double Life of Veronique
Vivre Sa Vie
Red Shoes
8 1/2

(All above have gorgeous actresses, which I find necessary for a blind buy)

Seven Samurai
Yojimbo
Samurai Trilogy
Down by Law
Seventh Seal
Days of Heaven
Army of Shadows (until Le Samourai is released)

I think this is a good starting list, I can probably narrow it down knowing your favorite genre.

They are both outstanding. I particularly love The Killing, which also comes with Kubrick's prior film Killer's Kiss. You may want to wait for Criterion's upcoming one-day-only flash sale where you can purchase all discs in their collection for 50% off.

Note to Criterion: Valentine's Day is Feb 14th. The 15th is the next day. Please plan any sale accordingly.

Note to anybody who thinks that's incredibly obvious: well, yeah, you would think so wouldn't you
