I would really love this on blu-ray (it's not even on DVD in the US!)...I genuinely consider it a fantastic film, with a great soundtrack as well.

Took a Criterion break this past weekend. Viewed Laura and Million Dollar Baby. The latter I've seen roughly 10 times and it knocks me out each time.
[Show spoiler]The accident and "My darling, my blood" could make a stone cry.

I'd love to revisit Million Dollar Baby.

I am a huge fan of Clint Eastwood's works, but I have held off on buying any of his movies on Blu-ray so far, with the exception of The Man With No Name Trilogy set, because I simply had to have those movies in the format.

The reason I've held off on buying more Eastwood movies is because I remember reading something about a comprehensive box set of Clint Eastwood's films coming out on Blu-ray sometime later this year. I cannot remember where I read this for the life of me, though, and web searches for information do not turn any new stones.

I am definitely going to pull the trigger on Escape From Alcatraz when it is released later this year, because it's one of my all-time favorite movies (plus Eastwood did not direct it, so it probably will not be appearing in a director box set).

EDIT:
Here is the information about the upcoming Clint Eastwood box set.

A 20 Blu-ray collection and a 40 DVD collection. The DVDs are listed, but the Blu-rays are not listed. Argh.

I was intending to buy the Firefox/Heartbreak Ridge double-Blu-ray set from Walmart for $7.88 later today, since Firefox is a childhood favorite and I regretted not buying that set the other day at Walmart. It would be my luck for those movies to appear on the 20 Blu-ray set, though.

The back of the Criterion case says they went on a psychedelic odyssey

Most of the film was them doing drugs and trippin' balls, so that's why I would consider it a psychedelic film. I could be wrong, thoug.

I considered Seijun Suzuki's Tokyo Drifter to be a "psychedelic" movie. Of course, I've never actually tried drugs and wouldn't know one way or another, but that was a trippy movie to my eyes.

I can see that...though I guess if we're talking Criterion, Hausu wins

I must concur. The Scooby-Doo episode from Hell.

I warmed up to House a lot better than many others did. I had to go for a long run after watching that movie so that I could work it out in my head, though.

I didn't notice a lot of others didn't like it. It's probably one of my favorite releases---it's definitely one I can watch again without getting tired of---and I proudly wear the Criterion-supplied t-shirt every now and then (and nobody ever knows what it is).

It sounds amazing. Eastwood's directorial work has been up and down for sure: just watched J Edgar last night which was... a little dry. And I never saw Hereafter because I was so frequently warned off it. But Changeling absolutely blew me away and there's plenty in his back catalogue to be proud of. Hope this set sees the light of day.

Watched White Material Friday evening. I really enjoyed the movie. Isabelle Huppert's acting job is amazing.

I have seen a few detractors pop up recently, but I also count it among my favourites in the collection. I'd definitely get that shirt if Criterion shipped to the UK. I wouldn't mind seeing more Obayashi hit the collection, especially his series of high school films.

I decided to grab the Firefox/Heartbreak ridge set from the Walmart $7.88 rack, because, if these movies do end up on the upcoming box set, I can probably sell this double-movie set for what I spent on it.

No Criterions for me today. I was going to take some of the DVD sale money to buy The 400 Blows and The Wages of Fear, but the Barnes & Noble near my office did not have The 400 Blows and their copy of The Wages of Fear was possibly broken inside, because I could hear the disc sliding around when I picked it up.

Instead, I bought The Maltese Falcon, as I was intending to do, and the 2-disc set of Apocalypse Now/Apocalypse Now Redux. (I've been wanting to buy Apocalypse Now, but I have no need for the big box set that most stores have been selling.)
When I sold off some DVDs and browsed through the used Blu-ray rack, I found a mint-condition copy of the Poltergeist digibook for cheap, as well the old John Cusack movie, Better Off Dead, which I have been looking for since I bought a Blu-ray Player. Two childhood favorites added to the collection at last.

I probably won't buy any Criterions until I get another good Barnes & Noble coupon or until there is another good sale, but I've got plenty of quality flicks to keep me busy until then.

I love how Videodrome plays out in present day, with people worried about cell phones causing cancer, with people wearing bluetooth headphones every waking minute, and the research about how the internet is affecting our thought patterns. The idea that increasing technology could, in effect, physically alter our bodies was something that David Cronenberg utilized so well in Videodrome, and it's one reason why the movie is still just as much ahead of its time right now as it was back in the day.

I had a big infatuation with Deborah Harry when I was a kid, and Videodrome always makes me smile for that very reason. I also love the fact that James Woods carries a movie, since he has been the unsung hero of so many flicks.

I rented Videodrome on VHS tape back in high school, and I never looked back. Thankfully, the VHS tape did not start breathing and pulsating in my hand! I warmed up to the movie in a big way back then, because one of my favorite albums at the time was Flesh For Lulu - Long Live The New Flesh, which was, of course, named from the quote in Videodrome.

Incidentally, I just now noticed that the 2003 remastered CD of the Flesh For Lulu album that I bought for ten dollars when it was released is now selling for $217. Pretty cool. I'm not going to sell my copy, though. They'll have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers. No way I'm selling off such an important part of the soundtrack to my teenage years.
