Not sure how credible or true this is, but I saw it this morning.

I'm typically not a huge fan of law films because I often find them to be very drawn out and boring, but for a movie that only took place in one room, it was absolutely incredible.

The thing that made the movie for me was definitely the acting. Each character was portrayed by a fantastic actor who each struggled with their own personal issues. In such a short period of time, we learned a lot about each person, such as their values, for example. Some of the best character development that I've probably seen to date.

The important message about the whole film is that all it takes is one person to make a difference. Amongst the sweltering heat, Henry Fonda managed to "keep his cool" and have an impact on the other jurors. I couldn't help but laugh at all of their sweat marks under their pits. Those spots were gigantic!

To end my rant, I'd like to say that as soon as I heard John Fiedler talk, I knew he sounded very familiar. After some research, I figured out that he did the voice of both Piglet (from Winnie The Pooh) and Father Mouse (from Robin Hood).

Very recommended!
12 Angry Men is an American treasure, pure and simple.

When I was in ninth grade back in 1986, my English teacher assigned the teleplay script to my class. Most of my friends skipped reading it or found it boring, but I was thoroughly captivated. I was chilled by the idea that someone's life could be at stake just because a juror has tickets to an event and is in a hurry to speed up the vote.

When I bought the DVD a while back, I posted a glowing review of the movie on Facebook, and my ninth grade English teacher, who is one of my FB friends, was pleased that I mentioned the assignment in my review.

The movie is a marvel, and proof positive that dialogue and solid acting are still the best special effects.

I upgraded to the 12 Angry Men Blu-ray several weeks ago, but the Blu-ray is still on my "to watch" list. I am tempted to play it tonight, but tonight is reserved for the Clint Eastwood Firefox/Heartbreak Ridge double set. I just finished watching Heartbreak Ridge and am about to watch Firefox.

Not so sure about that.

However, I'm a big fan of Sidney Lumet, even if he's not the definition if a visual master. It goes without saying that Network, Serpico, dog Day Afternoon and Before the Devil knows youre dead all come highly recommended.

I have the Critical Care, A Stranger among us and Long Days Journey into night sitting unwatched on my shelf.

Before The Devil Knows You're Dead made me want to jump off a bridge. It was a well-made film, but not one that I wanted to rush out and watch again.

I haven't seen Network, but I actually prefer Before The Devil Knows You're Dead to Dog Day Afternoon and Serpico. It was well-done and a great story about how a simple idea can have so many unforeseen consequences. Not to mention, Philip Seymour Hoffman gave one of the best performances of his entire career with the film.

While we're on the subject of the film, I hope the Ethan Hawke films, Before Sunrise / Before Sunset, get announced for Friday.

Hmmm, I couldn't wait to see it again. The editing is phenomenal and it's a joyous expression of storytelling. It's jaw dropping that it was directed by a man closing in on eighty.

I strongly endore PSH in Owning Mahowny. It's a great film!

We should just wait for the Before___ trilogy to be released as a whole.

Does Criterion have the rights to Warner Bros. films? I'm 99.9% sure they have the Universal rights.

I'd also like to see The Big Sleep and Touch Of Evil announced soon.

Love this film largely for that reason.

Makes up for the unresolved subplot about who won the baseball game.

Joyous in form if not exactly content. I'm sure they had a blast making the film

I still need to grab Antonioni's Identification of a Woman. The allure of the synth-pop soundtrack is too good to pass up, plus that movie is only $29.99 at Barnes & Noble.

I would flip if this happened. I know it won't, but.. yeah, I don't think any surprise announcement would please me more.

Just a heads up...that's a "light-weight" release, as far as supplements are concerned. It's MSRP is $29.99.

For those like myself that held off on The Ballad of Narayama, until that stuttering issue is addressed...it was also just added to Hulu Plus.
