Yeah, it was (as Aaron said) discussed at Wexner. You should be able to search the thread and see the discussions around the Wexner talk, or watch it yourself, pretty sure someone posted a link not long ago (google's your friend, too). It was also listed on the blurry list of titles. Not sure if it will be this year, though we should see some Ray in 2013.

Here it is..original post got deleted somehow...

Le Samourai? possibly, at some point in the not too distant future
In A Lonely Place? no
World Cinema Foundation/Film Foundation - trying to work out WCF titles similar to foreign box set release
Film Foundation restorations will always come out on BD if Criterion has them (Richard III, Colonel Blimp coming to Blu-ray)
Andrei Rublev? restoration progressing in Russia - "desparately want to rerelease"
Cimino made some small changes to Heaven's Gate (some dialogue, removed intermission)
Some Eclipse may upgrade to Blu-ray! Les Miserables (Bernard) has restoration and may become a mainline title
Apu Trilogy? in progress, another Ray title in 2013 (Apu Trilogy or other title)
Some fun documentaries coming up
releasing Shoah + 3 shorts
releasing The Devil's Backbone (Del Toro) - mid-2013
releasing On The Waterfront in 3 aspect ratios

Up until very recently, Warner refused to license their films to anyone. I think that policy is starting to lift (they loaned North by Northwest out to Universal for that Hitchcock box). Criterion made a deal to release Badlands, owned by Warner but I imagine this was largely due to the insistence of Terence Malick. At the Wexner Center Q&A a few months ago, Criterion confirmed they were in discussions to release a pre-code film from Warner. So it seems Warner is hesitant to loan their films out, but some inways have been laid. Two titles so far. Better than nothing.

Criterion has a friendlier relationship with the other big studios like Universal, Paramount, Sony, MGM, and Fox.

Warner has the rights to the first two films (they now have the Castle Rock library and released Before Sunrise on DVD). I don't believe Sony Pictures Classics licenses their films to anyone but their Blu-rays are typically top notch. So even if the new movie doesn't get a Criterion release, it's in great hands.

I'm sure it'll be half off before the summer one way or another. Amazon has had Criterion Spring sales in the past and so has CC. Due to the lack of extras, I'd recommend waiting I haven't rewatched it since last summer, I need to get on that

On the subject of Antonioni, I'm gonna pull a Howard Beale (ala Network) if Criterion doesn't announce an upgrade for one of his films on Friday.

Yes, apparently Scorsese listed Bad Lieutenant in his top ten films of the 90s.
I haven't got the King of New York, but that's probably because I've seen it so many times I don't really feel the need to own it at the moment.
And I don't re-watch Bad Lieutenant often enough to warrant upgrading from DVD to blu-ray.
I've not seen 4:44 Last Day on Earth, but it gets mixed reviews. From the trailer and synopsis, it sounds like Don McKellar's Last Night (1998).

I think it was top 5 actually, and he listed it as #5.

DarkRyder, it is probably best that you start with King of New York, as it is his most mainstream film. Then Fear City, China Girl, and Bad Lieutenant. 4.44... I would leave for the end.

If DVD isn't a problem, you will probably enjoy Body Snatchers. The Keitel/Madonna film, Dangerous Game, you could see only after you've seen plenty of Ferrara's other films and are sure you like his darker/more abusive side.

I really like The Blackout as it has a very unique sense of humor (if you could call it that), but local critics destroyed it, as usual. Top job by the late Dennis Hopper (reminds of his great role in The Last Days of Frankie the Fly; very "low-budget", very fluid).

You are probably well familiar with his The Driller Killer and do not need any advice:

If you liked the style of King of New York, you will likely enjoy The Funeral as well. Walken is great.

The Addiction is a top film, one of his best, but there isn't a good DVD release. (There is a nice Dutch disc, but you probably don't want to import now).

Mary, with Juliette Binoche, is out all over Europe - France, Spain, Italy, etc. Go Go Girls recently came out in France on DVD as well.

New Rose Hotel is Ferrara's legendary bad film. There isn't a good anamorphic DVD, so you have to wait for a Blu-ray.

On other forums there was talk that Ms. 45 might be coming out in France, but I am unsure how well China Girl did. I did my part to help

Cat Chaser you could still find on DVD in the U.S., but it is a very old transfer and not in the correct ratio. This came out through Artisan but I am unsure if Olive Films could do something about it.

'R Xmas you could avoid.

I think this is it.

I really, really want this to find its way to BD, but it seems insanely unlikely.

Fingers crossed for Ms. 45, as well.

Yes! I'd love to upgrade my old copy of Rififi. There's a UK Blu-ray of this movie, but it's Region B. Criterion should resurrect this title.

Brute Force is also one of my favs on Criterion DVD right now.
