Not sure never really counted them like maybe 275? I do have a bunch of OOP titles mixed in.

I think I'll watch the 180 minute cut first to see if I even like it, and if I do, I'll probably pick up the Criterion release.

Amazon.com is offering The 400 Blows for 19.99$ is this a sign that they're running out of the digipacks?

I seriously doubt it. It's been that price for a few weeks now.

Also, Benjamin Button is only $15 on Amazon if anyone still needs it. Not a bad price.

A quick question on Pierrot le fou: I was watching it (actually re-started watching it for the third time) yesterday and I noticed that in the monochromatic scenes (where the characters seemed to talk like they were in product ads), when Ferdinand passes by a couple and the scene changes from green to blue, there was a jump cut. Now I've read that Godard uses these techniques in his films, but this almost seemed like an error in editing.

Anyone else see this? Is this normal (at least for a Godard movie)?

Thanks.

I need some advice regarding cases I ordered. When the case for Third Man came available at the end of October, I paypalled Criterion $20 for that and three other cases. I promptly got the Third Man case but the other three have been available for quite a while now and I haven't received them. I've sent Criterion at least three emails politely asking for an ETA and all my emails have gone unanswered.

I'm considering logging a dispute on paypal as my next step, but I'd much rather not go there and just get the cases I ordered. What do you guys recommend?

From reading this thread it seems that folks have eventually got the cases they ordered. Also from reading this thread I see that the way they are running the case replacement program could use some improvement. When folks buy something - you need feedback, loop closing, when to expect what you bought. And unanswered emails asking for status, annoying. The fact that they are inundated with emails is because the process is so mysterious. Reasons why I have not ordered any, I don't want to put myself through that...

I recommend waiting. I imagine that you'll get them without the need for a PayPal dispute. As far as the unanswered Criterion e-mails... sometimes they're right on top of that stuff and other times it takes a while.

I ordered Pierrot le fou from Criterion yesterday and it arrived today! At least I know why the shipping was $5.95.

As long as their site lets you place an order, yes you should be fine. If they run ouot they will NOT take any more orders.

Plus they stated they can produce the discs until end of March, just after that whatever stock is left is all they can offer.

Yeah I'm going to pick it up from Best Buy(also 15 there) as soon as I get my 5 dollar RZ certificate.

You could say that but it's still a member of Criterion.

while exciting that it's free. the auteurs is the same thing, free ad-sponsored video but w/better community forum/feedback experience.

what i dislike is the PQ. streaming quality is awful compared to Blu-Ray.

I've watched some Criterion movies on Netflix streaming. While certainly not of Blu-ray quality, their HD streams have pretty good PQ. I've seen and enjoyed Gomorrah and Che, and started waching Pierrot le fou (until it's OOP status was announced and I had to buy the BD). The other Criterions are on my Blu-ray queue. That way, I get to find out which ones are worth rewatching, and therefore, worth purchasing. Of course, if money were no object, all Criterions would be easy blind buys.
