Barnes & Noble emailed me with a 20% off coupon that is good through 2/18, so I'll likely stop by there this weekend to combine this with my membership discount.

I saw Fellini's 8 1/2 at the store last week for 30% off, so I wonder if I can use the coupons together for a very inexpensive 8 1/2.
Or I might just get The Wages of Fear or The 400 Blows. I dunno.

nice, wish I lived near a store. 400 Blows is also on my Netflix queue. I've read it is excellent.

UPDATE:

I received a second note from Criterion addressing the stuttering on Ballad of Narayama. I have also added it up to our review.

There's not a problem with the encode of the Criterion DVD or Blu-ray release of THE BATTLE OF NARAYAMA. What is perceived to be an encoding error is actually inherent to the surviving film elements and the restored materials. It is also present in the 2007 Tartan UK release.

The Criterion version is consistent with the Shochiku restoration that premiered at Cannes last year, which was the basis for the Criterion release.

Hope this clears things up.

Got Solaris today. Very excited to watch it, since I've read that Tarkovsky's style influenced Terrence Malick.

I think The Dreamers should get a Criterion release. Or just a US release in general.

Was hoping for a sale today. Maybe next week.

Any ideas for releases coming tomorrow? I'll be waiting.
