Does anybody know to what extent Criterion was really involved with the BD/Special Edition DVD release of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? it seems that the only thing Criterion did was allow their logo to be added to the artwork and the use of their navigational menus. Even the artwork design doesn't seem like something that Criterion's designers would come up with.

I know I wanted that also on the Blu release. I have a feeling that had the release been done now it would have probably included the short. Who knows could have been a contractual issue. I am hoping for the rest of the films to be released on Blu also. Maybe they can include it on the second full length film release when the time comes.. or box set perhaps.

As for Saló... I have the UK release from BFI and I think it's quite lovely! I have about 6 total BFI blu-rays so far and none of them have let me down. The picture quality is great, the extras are abundant, and the booklets are usually pretty darn thick. CC |

Personally the reason I wouldn't buy a region-free player is because it would open the floodgates. I already spend enough money on Blu-Rays, I can't even imagine how much more I would spend if I was able to play region-locked titles.

I might do that either way, if I can find someone to buy my current blu ray player. |

Spend the extra money and get the new Oppo BDP-80. It retails for around $300 shipped and you can order a mod chip that requires no soldering. Its an outstanding player as is but making it region free makes it well worth the money. And the lights on the front panel are all defeatable.
