Curious, are there female Criterion fans on here? Or is it literally a Criterion sausage-fest on this thread. Hehe.... I want to read comments from the women who enjoy Criterion titles.

I'd be surprised if that was the case; seems more likely that maybe they had subtitles on the screener versions but dropped from the actual release.
Hello Cody,

I meant to respond to your question in the other thread, but forgot. Yes, you must access the optional English subtitles via your remote control. For whatever reason, there isn't an option on the main menu.

Better put that Prime membership to good use, Beta. Better go back and change your shipping on any pre-orders that you have, too.

Many, many pages back there was a female that posted on here once or twice. That's the only one I recall being a definite.

I actually did order it (with the other two titles from this month) right after I activated the Prime membership...... I did the 2-day free Prime shipping, ordered them Saturday early-afternoon sometime, and I just checked, and they're both still listed as "shipping soon"

Maybe they shipped, but I don't have an update via Amazon to reflect that yet

Home Theater and Home Video forums are almost always male dominated, no matter if it's super mainstream studios or boutique labels.

jacobsever has stated he likes Twilight: New Moon. I think that qualifies him as having teenage female tendencies.

Easier to pick up the ladies if you share a common interest.

Also, I read that Steve McQueen is making a film this year based on the life of one of my favorite musicians, Fela Kuti.
I know it's not even started filming yet, but, do you think being by Steve McQueen it would have any shot at a possible Criterion release down the road?

Yeah but they just made it all happy joy joy. They even got rid of the twist. I mean really now? The Aamir Khan dude is known for being very particular about his movies.

Hmm... the only Steve McQueen I was aware of was the actor who died the year I was born. Didn't realize someone by the same name did the film Hunger.

I had never heard of Fela Kuti either but after reading about him he sounds like an interesting person. A biopic about him definately sounds interesting.

This is sad..... but May's titles were announced during my "dark ages" when my computer was busted, and I didn't have the new one....... I didn't even know 4 titles were announced let-alone what they were...... I just pre-ordered all 4 as well..... I just purchased the three from this month a few days ago, and I'm eagerly awaiting those as well!

Understandable with your pc out, must have been a lovely surprise! What about March & April's releases?

I wish I was on top of these like some of you seem to be... I'm currently trying to get the backlog and will eventually catch up to where I'll be pre-ordering the latest release.

Just ordered Revanche as well as several others from the digipak period; I should have an enjoyable week!

Also, I've been mainly buying Criterions on Amazon (PRIME ), and recently my Quick Picks (gold box page) have begun to pile up with Criterion Blu-ray options. Sometimes it's more useful than others, but it generally seems to be about an additional $1.25 off the regular Amazon price. Sometimes I even find 2-3 I want to use on a single order -- today there were 6 available Criterion blu-rays in my Quick Picks. The discounts seem to stack, as I ordered two and the discounts were credited in the final invoice. The cycle for new titles takes about a day or more to refresh, and I'm hoping the trend will continue.

Just finished watching "Revanche"... I must say, it was very moving. And the movie was totally unencumbered by music...very raw and real.

I loved it--found myself repeating the first quarter of the movie immediately if only to make sure I didn't miss anything, but discovered subtle details.

Same here. I'm up to a dozen Criterion with a few pre-ordered, but still trying to catch up on the backlog. Right now nobody seems to have Criterion Blu's at an attractive price. Going rate is around $24-28 each. I'm probably going to wait till either Amazon drops the titles back to around $21 each as they did about a month or so ago or B&N has a half-price sale.

I try and wait for them to be about 23 or less on Amazon, but I'd always love to get them cheaper...

Hopefully I'll be able to knock out a large portion of the collection if one of those B&N sales comes around again, otherwise I'll just be picking up about 5-6 a month for a while.

Thanks for the head's up, I had a hard time finding Walkabout and Stagecoach, but all are pre-ordered now.
If they keep up with this 3 regular releases plus a 2 disc set each month we're looking at $140/month to keep up with these! Well worth it IMO.
