No problems here, subtitles turned on by default on my PS3.
As for whether all women like the film, well...depends. It's very minimalist, some might even say it's slow (I don't feel that way). There's quite a bit of nudity, so some women might not like that. But it's definitely terrific, and any true lover of film will find a deal of merit in this one. |

It just strikes me as funny how Americans (mainly men) fixate on nudity in films...it just isn't the same for Europeans. If people are in situations in a film, where, realistically, they'd be naked, then they get naked, and unless those situations are pervasively sexual or violent, it doesn't even raise an eyebrow over there (especially on the Continent; the UK and Ireland sometimes side with American views). That could be why no one spoke of the nudity in Revanche. I don't personally agree that there is "a lot" of nudity in the film. One central character bears her breasts in a few scenes, and there are a couple sex scenes (one of which involves no visible nudity). Moreover, the nude scenes are not designed to titillate the viewer, as is the case with so many Hollywood films, and I think that this is the type of nudity women don't care to see. As long as you aren't watching with a prudish woman, I doubt she'll mind it at all. |

Does anyone know about Brazil, Naked Lunch, Time Bandits, A Story of Floating Weeds/Floating Weeds? would it be better to get these now on DVD or should Criterion re release them on Blu-ray?
And is The Man Who Fell to Earth good? also what is the story like? |

Brazil - My bet is that they do this one within the next couple years. Universal seems to be good with this one staying with Criterion. Time Bandits - Unlikely for a Criterion BD; Starz/Anchor Bay will probably eventually release their own Blu. |

They do if you order through their website. for every $500 you spend they give you a $50 dollar credit. I dont think this is worth it since with the deals from amazon, with the $500 you spend there you are likely to save more then $50

I believe the director wanted an authentic feel with the language and where it was filmed in Austria. I took German in high school and college and the difference between high german and the austrian german is pretty big. I had a hard time trying to understand it. Also, the subtitles don't always translate 100% correctly what they are saying in German, but is close enough. Overall, this is a really great movie. One of my favorite, but I wasn't entirely happy with the way it ended, but that's probably because I'm so used to Hollywood films and their traditional endings. |

My wife HATED it, thought it ponderous and boring. Out of the Criterion BD's we've watched thus far, she's liked Chungking Express, Monsoon Wedding, Monterrey Pop, Bottle Rocket, For All Mankind and El Norte; that said I could likely only get her to watch the first two a second time. If Criterion ever re-releases Chasing Amy as a Blu she'd love that, it's one of her favorite movies, but the vast majority of the collection is pretty meh to her.

if yo women enjoys cerebral/intellectual, then most criterion would appeal. but it's hard to find any sentimental titles in modern times. criterion has classics, like the leo mccarey's make way for tomorrow, that is still holds up in the test of time...
though many would prefer color vs. B&W. |

I believe I liked Chungking Express more than she did. I'm more the hopeless romantic in the relationship. I absolutely love that film, it isn't my favorite Wong Kar Wai movie, but I love it never the less. |

I was just glancing through the Criterion catalog for the nth time...there's so many films that I want to see that are only available on DVD. I'm scared to buy them because, with my luck, as soon as they arrive there will be an announcement about them being released on Blu-ray.
