As James78 has alluded...Masters of Cinema has released it in the UK as a region B "locked".

I own it and it is certainly worth purchasing their release of it, if you are region free. VERY well done!

Guess I'll have to snap the copy below. Has anyone seen this version? How is the PQ/AQ?

I like her for her mind.

(Just demonstrating my pure love of cinema for non-shallow reasons, of course.)

No one should ever have to choose a favourite between Yojimbo, A Fistful of Dollars or Miller's Crossing
I was never aware of The Glass Key. Thanks for the link!

I had a blast watching The Man with No Name Trilogy yesterday (although Eastwood actually does have a name in two of the films). They all look quite stunning on Blu-ray, and it's been a year or so since I had last seen the films via my old DVD versions.

Great news, will more then likely place an order for the Cassavetes set.

My first order from the Criterion flash sale arrived today, was real pleased to have no issues involving damaged cases, ripped inserts, etc.

The first review is by Pro-B from this very website...a sterling review! If the review doesn't come right up when you click the link, then you just have to scroll down slightly and click on the "Blu-ray review" link.

The other review is from DVDBeaver. Both reviews are for the Masters of Cinema/UK release.

I thought you guys were interested in the English language release/version (no German subs)? I don't think the German version will be any better than the UK version.

Sorry...not trying to be an ass.

I am an ass...sorry...didn't know you were looking at region free.

I'm just a yank that was getting sick of seeing all the great releases coming out on your side of the pond. I bought a region free player, when MoC released "La Planete Sauvage" a few years ago. I've been buying from them and BFI ever since.

I loved it. I need to upgrade my DVD at some point.

Revanche is an effective psychological tale that goes in a completely different direction than I expected. That is not a complaint. It's a good mix of tension, sadness, and yearning squeezed into one film, and it's quite original when all is said and done.

I cannot write a lot about Revanche without ruining the whole thing for everyone and getting people upset, so I'll leave it at that. I'll just say that I really enjoyed it, and I think that it'll look awesome on Blu-ray.

So, Badlands will not be #200 in my collection after all. I found a nine-dollar copy of the newly-remastered version of The Terminator today during lunch break in mint condition on a used rack. As as wise man once said, "I hit that."

My three-week break from new purchases was strangely refreshing, though, and I'm still having fun catching up watching the remaining unwatched Blu-rays in my collection.

Thanks for the info on the region free player. I got busy during the weekend. I plan to save some money for an Oppo blu ray player.

The US is having a hard time keeping up with the great UK releases. For the meanwhile, I am happy that MoC and BFI have some region free blu rays (Alice by Svankmajer, Sunrise and L'Age D'Or with Un Chien Andalou are jewels of my film collection.

Yeah, I didn't want to give too much away about it either...but I do find it very thought-provoking and fascinating...and am a fan of the cinematographer's work.

I love the film, but I've heard complaints that its too slow and the characters are unlikeable.

Coop's right though, the cinematography and blocking are motivated and arresting.

Revanche is IMO one of the most shockingly excellent blind buys I've had on Blu-Ray - a little Criterion gem, if there's such a thing. The complaints above can be valid, however. Highly recommended if you can sit and give it time to gestate. It's an excellent moral tale, with some highly emotional but contemplative scenes.
