After seeing this recently, I do not recall, but maybe 1 or 2 scenes like this. One of the shots was great, but the ship was in the distance, so I don't think it was cropped out.

2) holy hell!!!! I didn't know their newest had already been released!
I've literally listened through their discography a hundred times over (only Aimee Mann is more listened to)
Whichever way is more convenient. Through PM or some other way. Thanks!

Yeah, the My Bloody Valentine album came up last month for sale. I pre-ordered the CD, and got a loseless WAV file of the album with my pre-order. The CD itself came in the mail last week.

The album can be found on YouTube in its entirety, though, if you want to sample.

Hey Shell, I voted in your current criterion poll question "what film would you like to see in the collection on blu-ray".

My vote was for Odds Against Tomorrow (1959). More Film Noir is always a good thing in my book.

When it come's to Iron Maiden well they came out with thier first album right at the moment I was leaving my kids days behind and KISS and I could not believe the songs they were making. I was surprise how they would write songs about poems and movies and scifi books. It's also the reason RUSH was always one of my favorite groups (plus they are from Canada ) As for a Maiden concert, no one can reach an audience like Bruce Dickinson. I am still amaze how his voice is still holding on even if he is no longer as young as he once was. Look at Geddy Lee from RUSH, he no longer hit the notes like he use to and they had to change the tempo of most of their older songs for concerts if they even play them at all.
Just nice to see you around.

I'll chime in with the music being discussed here...the second I saw Steve Harris wail on that Bass guitar made me start playing 25 years ago and I've never stopped..."Up the Irons"....My Bloody Valentine..continues to make my heart bleed dry...but there is one band that I will always consider my favorite and I'd really wish they come back to the states and that is the Cranes...I reember seeing them at The Metro in Chicago back in '96 or '97 best concert I've ever attended.

Sorry to get off topic, watched Robinson Crusoe on Mars last night and loved it's cheesy Sci-Fyness and it really reminded me of me and the wife's trip to Badlands, SD. Very similar comparisons with the rock formations there. Mona the monkey was what made it for me the most. Great film!!!

The preposterous plot only adds charm too.

It's so great that I stopped reading the novel upon learning there's no pet monkey.

I'll probably watch this over the weekend. Which screen ratio should I watch first?
I asked Pro-B about his ratio preference for On the Waterfront awhile back and he answered:
All things considered, I prefer the 1.33:1 version.

The Cranes are a keen choice. They opened for The Cure (my all-time favorite band) back in 1992, and I love the songs from that era. Forever is a solid good album.

Robinson Crusoe on Mars is second-tier on my priority list of the Criterions that I need to upgrade to Blu-ray, but I love that movie dearly and the Blu-ray will be mine. Since I was watching Godzilla last night, I gather that it was old-school sci-fi Criterion night across the board. A good thing!

Just got mine yesterday. I'm sure they were bombarded with a lot of orders in a short time frame.

Does anybody know when (and why) Playtime went out of print?

My order just arrived today from UPS -- PINA, LA PROMESSE, HEAVEN'S GATE, and the THREE COLORS trilogy. Checked the surface of the WHITE disc to make sure it said "Second Printing." It does! Now I just need to find time to watch them all. It may be awhile, as I'll be out of town at a couple of film festivals this weekend and next.

This was discussed a few weeks back on the thread, but I believe that a brand-spanking new restoration of Playtime is on its way.

I keep seeing Playtime at Barnes and Noble, so there are plenty of copies left for everyone. I'm going to wait and see what the future holds for the restoration, though.

I stopped by Barnes & Noble over lunch with my 20% off coupon from the email and used it in conjunction with my 10% Members and 10% off sticker price on the movie. 40% off of On the Waterfront, so the final price was $32.

I could have saved a couple bucks by purchasing On the Waterfront during the flash sale, but I wanted to buy this one at a store after verifying that the box was in perfect condition. No dents on the box, no markings, no floating discs inside, etc. It's all good.
Well, I waited until around 2 pm the day the flash sale began to order my OTW, and because of this I'll be waiting for mine probably until the 25th of this month. So there's that as well.

Nope, I'm still waiting. On the Waterfront and Thin Red Line are on back order. Looks like March 20 ship date.

EDIT - On first read I didn't catch the fact that you said your orders were charged. My order page at Criterion.com says they won't be charged til shipped.

Nope. Still haven't received a notification e-mail that anything has been shipped, but I have been charged in full for the order.

The more I think about my order, the more I wish I could cancel it. Do you think they'll let me if I don't hear from them in a week?
