I would go for this one. I remember seeing it on HBO when I was a kid.

Thief is a weird one for me.

I don't really want it but every time it's mentioned my eyes light up and 80s nostalgia aside I really don't understand why.

Don't get me wrong, it's a decent enough movie. I like it just fine. It's the giddy part I don't fully understand

Just off the top of my head...

Revanche - it's not a dark crime drama so much as a dark 'aftermath of crime' drama and it was the first thing to come to mind browsing your films.

Repulsion - it's like Black Swan, only good. I kid, I kid...I liked Black Swan quite a bit but Repulsion is the goto 'descent into madness' movie.

Paths of Glory - a lot of people will see your Kubrick set and say 'oh, get The Killing' and that's a perfectly reasonable way to go...that's a fantastic release too. If you can get both, get both. But Paths of Glory is a phenomenal film and if you only get one, get that one. Or The Killing. Or both.

I honestly hope that they announce The Life Aquatic so that everybody can stop talking about it.

If not Life Aquatic, it'll be something else...there's always that one title. Don't give in yet!

It'll just switch over to something else, like asking for Eraserhead or something.

Nailed it coop.

(Re:Shoah)I've been meaning to see Shoah, but no library/blockbuster carries it, so I'd be more than happy if it was announced.

(Listening to The Treatment podcast and Sam Menes referenced Wim Wenders' Paris Texas as a major influence)

Truth. There's always that one title that people are rabidly demanding (accompanied by their natural complement, the people who say "release X already so people stop asking for it").

I wouldn't mind Zissou as I'm waiting for the Blu to watch it for the first time, but my most wanted titles are Le Samourai, Bicycle Thieves, and Ugetsu.

Thanks, I'll write those down. I plan on picking up both The Killing and Paths of Glory since I'm a huge Kubrick fan.

Do you happen to know how long that is going on for? I wouldn't mind blowing some money this weekend.

Till Monday March 18. Buy one get one of equal or lesser value for 50% off. You can order on-line or in stores. If in stores you need a sales rep to make the adjusted price for you before checking out.

Question for folks: I *love* the new Badlands cover, which is released next week, but I've never seen the movie. The first glaring detail I noticed upon research was that its directed by Terrence Malick. The only movie I've seen of his is The Thin Red Line, and I have to say, I didn't like it very much - at least the style of it. I disliked it in the same manner that I dislike all Wes Anderson movies.

Will I like Badlands?

Badlands is his most "mainstream" film. But it still has all the signature Malick-isms - characters in nature, voice over narration, a slow, lyrical quality. Although it has a more linear story than all of his films since. I personlly like his new work (From the Thin Red Line to now) more than Badlands and Days of Heaven.
