The problem is that $10 is good for nothing. Their prices are way higher and charge shipping for orders under $50. The titles I want on amazon.com are $23-25 and on criterion $32 so even after $10 off they are $22+ shipping(i didnt check but probably $3-$5) The only title that is cheaper buying them is Pierrot le feu (at $26 - $10 = $16+ shipping) but I already have it.

I thought that may be the case, but thanks for the clarification. More good news for those who still need to pick it up...

Remind me not to give you any free money.

$10 bux, is 10 bux. So what if it costs a little more at Criterion. He might pick up 2, 3 or 4 titles. You never know. Either way, he will save $10 bux. It's nice they did that for me. Shows they care.

I received an email from Karen today about an inquiry into a defective case I emailed about earlier in the week. She asked me for an address to ship a new case and apologized. I told her I ordered a replacement case for The Last Emperor and to save on shipping, to just send my replacement with that one. It went out today from what I am told.

Pretty slick service I think I have yet to watch my two movies I bought though. Pier and Hunger. I need to do that sometime.

Here's an updated picture of my collection.

All Criterion, Masters of Cinema, and StudioCanal releases that are out.

*edit* I know it makes no sense that I arrange them alphabetical/spine #/alphabetical...but I do.

Ahhhhhh... thats what I like to see. I still need the SC Collection Pierrot Le Fou, and then Soul Power and For All Mankind MoC's and I'll be there with you.

Now you just need to get all the BFI blus. I've got all of them so far with everything pre-ordered thats available too... (Ozu's etc.)

Also, why 3 Third Man's? Or is it only two with a replacement case?

Oh man, I'm thinking about the BFI line...but I'm really not familiar with those films, and I don't know if I can afford ANOTHER collection.

And yeah, two Third Man's. I plan on selling on on ebay as brand new + a replacement case.

I sold a couple of Third Man's a little while ago for $55 each, and used that to polish off my BFI's. If you like the SC Collection stuff, I should tell you that the BFI stuff is even better. The transfers are no joke, Criterion level. Their books however, are just as good as the ones from MoC. You should at least check out Salo, and the other Pasolini's and Red Desert, as those films are amazing.

My favorites are the Free Cinema stuff like Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, and The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner. Their transfers are nothing short of revelatory, and the extras and books are top notch too.

Do it! You know you want to... Yeah, I AM an enabler!

How many BFI releases are there?
And are we talking just the Flipside series, or everything?

Everything!!!! Right now, there are 25 that are currently out (26 with The Leopard, but wait until the transfer problem is fixed on that one) There are also 12 others announced or available for pre-order. They are all reasonably priced at Amazon UK now though, and many of them can be had for less that 10 pounds, which is only about $15-16 right now. That is much cheaper than any of the CC, SC Collection, or MoC blus right now.

I have nothing negative to say about the customer service they provide. I am 100% satisfied. My point is that you want to buy item X at store A at $100 and the same item X at store B is $120 but you have a $10 gift card for store B. which store would you shop at?

if anybody wants it I can trade my $10 criterion online gc to $10 bby gc

$308.63 for the 17 non-flipside titles...
Oh man, I don't think I can do this quite yet.
But I might pick up a couple to start off.

I think I am going to end up buying Sanjuro/yojimbo boxset or monterey boxset from criterion.com. these two are 49 and 55 respectively on amazon.com and 55 on criterion so with $10 gc i can get these cheaper than amazon.com since they are each over $50 i should get free delivery problem solved

i never seen sanjuro/yojimbo before. how do they compare(overal quality of the films) to ran, kagemusha, seven samurai?

I understand and agree. Prices there are higher which negates the $10 GC. I guess the thing is, what are you suppose to do with it then? Only thing to do is spend it. Maybe a sale will come along and help? I don't know.

I would say definitely start out with the main line of BFI titles before their Flipside releases. To me, the BFI Flipside releases are more eccentric, exploitation-type films whereas the main line of BFI blu-rays are all solid films worth owning.

Ugg... WTF Amazon? They jacked up their Criterion prices to $30 for most. That's the highest I've seen them.
