None?! Someone should get on that...

Personally I have a huge thing for this one, even though it's minor:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056671/

Not that I'd ever anticipate that or anything..I'm just pointing it out

It has a 7 number SKU so it should be carried in store. 8 number SKUs are online only.

There's this one but allegedly the quality of the blu is unacceptable.

Just watched Antonioni's The Passenger. My god, that uninterrupted 10 minute shot is one of the greatest technical achievements in film.

Really hope Criterion gets their hands on this.

I believe On The Waterfront was also a 7 Digit SKU and it wasn't carried in stores.

Hi Abdrewes

Actually, Titanic is out in the U.S. We missed the U.S. release when it came out, but I will add a review shortly (though I don't cover U.S. Fox titles). But you are indeed correct, not enough Stanwyk films in the U.S.

Here's the U.S release:

Here's the reviewed UK release:

This is particularly apparent when watching Badlands.

Days of Heaven is the only Malick film where my above assessment seems shaky, because of the likeness of events in the film to the Biblical plagues.

When I was younger, I interpreted The Thin Red Line to mean that war is an affront to nature itself. As I grow older, I figure that war is not an "affront" to nature, simply because humans and their wars are just...not that important in the grand scheme of nature. I must be getting cynical in my midlife crisis years.
We're on practically the same page. Malick is one of our biggest cinéastes of nature, and he gives it a big role in all his films (with the possible exception of Tree of Life). I think Malick's nature is Edenic -- I'm thinking of Badlands, Thin Red Line, New World -- though it's by no means a sweet and peaceful Eden. If I followed ToL, there's a way to live in harmony (Grace) and a way to lived out of harmony (Nature), but harmony isn't the Disney cliche we automatically think of with butterflies landing on Bambi's nose. When the one dinosaur decided not to kill the other one trapped or injured in ToL, I saw that as the introduction of Grace into nature. A lot of nature already works in Grace (Badlands, New World), but us Natural beings can certainly throw (Graceful) nature out of balance (Days of Heaven, New World, TRL). What about those rigid, gray gardens at the end of New World? Amazing image.

As compelling as his view of nature is, I don't think Malick is particularly focused on it. I think his primary focus is man's movement on the Grace/Nature scale, though nature can give us some idea of what life in harmony might look like. And even though I don't have a spiritual cell in my body, I'm always moved by the coherence and beauty of his vision.

So I just bought Au Revoir Les Enfants and I'm wondering why Blu-ray.com counts the Criterion package as containing 2 movies (The Immigrant being included) when other Blu-rays like The Double Life of Veronique also have short films (which The Immigrant could be classified as).

You know , that is a great idea. I love me some Pink Floyd and its taking forever for a bluray. It is a bit all over the place but the imagery is breathtaking and the music is great. When I was young, the movie poster scared the hell out of me.

After watching this first movie on Blu-ray, though, I really understand why these movies have such an incredible following on this forum. This movie is eye candy heaven in high definition, and the Blu-ray goes so far above and beyond the DVD that it's outrageous. I've heard that four subsequent movies have even better transfers, so I'm going to have a fun day or two ahead of me.

Stop associating guilt with pleasure! The world's terrible enough as it is. If you like something, don't be ashamed in admitting to yourself and others that you like it.

That being said, I've only seen the first two Resident Evil movies and the second was terrible, especially considering how much ass the trailer kicked.

Once I'm off work Monday, I'm going to hopefully be reading about some fabulous films coming from CC. The delay was unfortunate. However, at least we don't have to wait a full 30 days till next months announcements.

Then they should speak with Jack Nicholson. He owns it.

And I agree with you. A Criterion release would be great.

Seems mainstream enough for them to have it in stock.

A criterion release of Pink Floyd movie is very logical move. Like your avatar, I picked up the SACD of Wish You Were Here by analogue productions awhile back (surround sound paradise)

A great Criterion title on TCM tonight-The Two of Us. Wonderful film. Another of the DVD-only titles that need to be upgraded. Would make a great double feature with Au Revoir, Les Enfants.
