I've got several Eno CDs here from his batch of reissues a few years ago, and I agree that the Ambient Music albums are ace.

Keeping this Criterion-topic-worthy, my favorite Brian Eno track of all time is "An Ending (Ascent)", and that instrumental plays at the end of Traffic (as well as during the film, 28 Days Later).

I also love Eno's work with The Talking Heads. Remain In Light, in particular, bears Eno's fingerprints all over. The Eno/David Byrne collaborations are fun in a different sort of way.

My all-time favorite album, The Cure - Seventeen Seconds, was strongly influenced in part by Brian Eno's Another Green World.

Love what he did on Passengers.

I can think cynically and can think that someone initialized/changed the database entry to boost his/her movie count. We have the problem with "Stagecoach" and some others, too. With "On the Waterfront," which was originally llisted as two movies, a documentary in the supplements was counted as a second movie.

The consequence of this is that I've had to start counting SKUs instead of movies, which itself can create a problem when a "set" is involved: If a "set" contains three movies, my movie count is off by two. Solution: I don't buy sets anymore! And of the ones I still have, I've been able to find an entry for each of the singles, add them to my collection, then put the set in a "not owned" special category in my collection (so no movies from it are counted).

Personally, I think the rule for claiming that an SKU contains more than one movie should be that the front cover indicates that there is more than one movie; for example, the 2-movie Dirty Harry SKU and the double feature with Robert Rodriquez' El Mariachi and Desperado. Those two SKUs are accurately counted as containing two movies.

Watched Diabolique on Hulu over the weekend and was really impressed. I had already seen Wages of Fear so I had a feeling I would like the director's hand at a "horror" movie. Film was creepy and kept you thinking the whole time. Great ending! Ordered from Amazon so the wife and I can enjoy down the road...

Jack treats it like a painting. A few years ago Ohio U requested a print so they could screen it and he turned them down.

And even though I don't have a spiritual cell in my body, I'm always moved by the coherence and beauty of his vision.

Great analysis! I'm really looking forward to Badlands showing up at my doorstep this week, and I might just revisit The Thin Red Line after reading this.

I need to chime in and echo this sentiment. A Criterion release of THE WALL would be an absolute dream. One of my favorite films. It is criminal that it has yet to come to U.S. Blu-ray.
