Just for fun, I'm brainstorming a priority list of Criterion Blu-rays to grab at the next Barnes & Noble 50% off sale. I'll see if I can narrow it down to 10.

America Lost and Found: The BBS Story
The 400 Blows
Beauty and the Beast
Diabolique
The Leopard
La Jetée/Sans Soleil
Repulsion
The Rules of the Game
Videodrome
Vivre Sa Vie

This list is subject to change about a thousand times before July. I may pick up a few of these before then depending on Amazon sales, B&N coupons, etc.

Such a great one. That's one I can re-watch often. Fascinating how it's only gained in popularity over the past couple decades.

I wonder if this will ever see the light of day on Criterion Blu-ray. As is, the DVD edition is most excellent.

Carnival of Souls and Eyes without a Face make for a great Criterion double-feature. I watched both of them back-to-back last Halloween season, in fact.

Does BB stock Criterion's? I've never seen them FS at my store.

First of all, great nickname! Blofeld is one of my favorite characters ever. (...although I wish that the chilling literary incarnation of Blofeld in Ian Fleming's You Only Live Twice had been properly adapted to a screen version.)

Best Buy does stock a handful of Criterions, but mostly the "crowd pleaser" titles, such as 12 Angry Men, Dazed and Confused, Rosemary's Baby, the Wes Anderson films, The Thin Red Line, Badlands, the Chaplin films, and the Hitchcock films.

Your mileage may vary depending on store location, though. One Best Buy in my area has nothing whatsoever.

There's absolutely zero reason for CC to release any Keaton films. The KINO discs are amazing. The only ones KINO don't have the rights to (that I guess CC could grab) are his 2 MGM films, The Cameraman and Spite Marriage (a sound film that's not very good)

Confirmed. They pretty much only stock a few English language and Cult films.

How's the Cameraman? I failed to record it last Fall when it aired on TCM.

I'd rank The Cameraman as one of Keaton's best.

24 of Kurosawa's films are free on Hulu this weekend. Pretty cool.

Damn, I wish Hulu was available in Canada. Hopefully it will be soon.

If you use Firefox, just download the MediaHint add-on to watch on your computer, or for a whole house solution subscribe to UnblockUS and configure your router.

This is great. I've seen all of these movies, except for Madadayo, and they are generally quite superb.

If you've never seen Stray Dog before, then I particularly recommend that one. It's the "unsung hero" of Kurosawa's canon, in my opinion.

I shared Criterion's link on my Facebook wall for all my non-Criterion-knowledgeable friends, so I'm hoping that some of them dive in.

Spite Marriage was his last silent film. You might be thinking of Free and Easy.

Amazon finally shipped my Badlands with a delivery date of Wednesday. I did call them and they said something about it being at the distributor. So it is plausible that the order was stuck in Shipping Soon while they waited for stock. Glad I preordered. :P

The closest BB to me - two miles - used to carry a surprising amount of Criterion titles, including many foreign ones. I even saw Kuroneko there at one time. Then just before last Christmas they expanded their floor and remodeled into a high end store with an uber-Magnolia and about 1/3 of the store taken up by appliances. In the process, they gutted the blu-ray section and the only Criterion I see there now is Rosemary's Baby. They did not even stock Badlands.

However, the next BB - another two miles down the interstate - still has a good blu-ray selection (for a Best Buy) and I even saw Eating Raoul there on Tuesday while picking up Badlands.

Does anyone here use hulu? Are the CC blu-ray titles in higher def than non BD titles? I use that term loosely, but Netflix HD is fairly decent as far as streaming media is concerned.

Mine was like that as well---before, they offered many titles, a pretty good selection. Ever since they separated the sections into genres, they only carry about 5 different ones at a time now.
