Totally agree! I've put in the movie and watched only that scene more than once.

Only the DVD screenshot represents twilight (early dawn). We're talking about this very short window of time...it really only lasts for around 10 minutes. These dark blue colors are what it's all about.
Wouldn't the "twilight between day and night" be dusk? (As opposed to the twilight between night and day, which would be dawn).

How do we know that Wenders misspoke?

Ohhhh. You're gonna be disturbed, but in an awesome way.

I had Hunger on DVD, but sold it a couple months back in anticipation of the eventual upgrade. It's a sobering, but masterful film.

I remember hearing about Bobby Sands on the news way back when I was eight or nine years old, and my parents telling me that he died after not eating anything for over 60 days. I was fascinated with this story at that young age (not the IRA details and such, but just the whole starvation thing).

On a different note, I finally upgraded my Godfather movies, because I found the trilogy set at a used store down the street. My man card is in perfect order again.

That is correct (in the story it is dawn). But it doesn't matter since colors are similar during those 10 minutes...no matter if it's twilight between day & night or twilight between night & day.

The chance that Wim Wenders misspoke (using the words "magic hour") is very high because light during magic hour lasts more than 10 minutes.

In photography, the golden hour (sometimes known as magic hour, especially in cinematography) is the first and last hour of sunlight during the day.
In the quote Wim Wenders is referring to twilight >>>

"This scene here up on the roof, Tom Tom's jump, the one which the movie begins with, we shot it for around a week; every day for 10 minutes, this short period of time...magic hour...there's this twilight between day and night."

Well, I would love to ask Wim Winders about this.

Unfortunately I haven't. Still Waiting for it to drop further in price.
When it's $12 or below I'll be snatching it up.
It looks like my cup of tea

Yeah it was a great interaction between Bobby Sands and the priest.

Yeah, so far I like it. I have about 15 minutes left, but I took a quick dinner break.

Not only was I hungry going into the movie, but I was even hungrier after seeing The Machinist, Part 2.

Michael Fassbender is such a great actor, though.

From what I've seen, I'm already a bit disturbed.

I can't believe the shitty treatment these men faced in the prison. It's sickening.

I really didn't like Killer Joe. It had great acting, but the storyline didn't do it for me, though.

Jeff Nichols is, in my opinion, one of the best American directors currently working today and he's so new, only being active since 2007.

Take Shelter is one of the best psychological drama's of all time and while Shotgun Stories doesn't match the skill in Take Shelter, it's a debut film so that's forgivable and generally expected, you know?

Still, in saying that, I found it to be a mighty impressive debut film and its got such an authentic American feeling to it. Criterion seems to love releasing debut films and slower, thoughtful films with beautiful cinematography. I'm not sure if anyone would agree with this wish of mine but I would personally love to see it happen.

This movie needs to be on blu-ray and the performance by Michael Shannon is exceptional. Both Shannon and Nichols perfected their craft in Take Shelter but this is a perfect chance to see them both "warming up" I guess.
Both of films so far have been terrific. His work, especially Shotgun Stories, reminds me a lot of George Washington-era DGG. I can't wait for Mud.

with chunking express out of print people could still buy the UK import (got that myself) and picture quality and sound are pretty ok.

All four of his films from last year feature him with great performances. Even though I thought The Paperboy was borderline unwatchable, he still made it worthwhile.

Of the films on the Criterion label that were released in the last decade, I think this was their best get.

Excellent choice. I think I'm going to finally pick that up during the next B&N sale along with Fish Tank. 12 Years a Slave cannot come out soon enough. Fassbender

I decided to get America Lost and Found: The BBS Story box set seeing as it's been sitting at 49% off for some time now and it's ages until the next 50% off sale at B&N. Looks like a great set and for $9.14 per criterion blu, who can complain?

I hope I like it. I've heard great things.

Great choices. This Steve McQueen guy is excellent.

I really loved Fish Tank with Fassbender. However, I still think my favorite film of his has been Shame. I don't know. They're all good, in my opinion.

You should watch some of McQueen's short films. They are so weird. Good but very unorthodox.

Oh, I didn't even know he had shorts, to be honest

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

I finally finished Hunger and it was a very powerful film. It takes a very strong person to endure that in the name of freedom.

Ahh, it would be lower on my list even though I love it..because they've released so many really good ones ---my top ones would be Certified Copy and Weekend.

Well, I only saw Killer Joe of the four, and that film is indeed incredibly awesome.
