Have you tried My Cousin Rachel in both film and novel format? I think it would make a good addition to the Criterion Collection. It's a fun film, and I want it for purely selfish reasons, as I kinda want both George Dolenzes in the collection. We have George Michael Dolenz in already, as a cast member from Head, I want to see George Dolenz, his father, in the collection as well. Also, you'd get Olivia de Havilland and Richard Burton too.

Does anyone know offhand how many "families" the collection has? I can only think of a few offhand, such as the Wilson brothers in Bottle Rocket, Dunham and her mom in Tiny Furniture, the Dardennes, and so forth. Since we're complaining again about not discussing Criterion films, perhaps we can talk about actors/directors/etc that have family members in the collection.

Really excited to pick up Richard III tomorrow at Barnes & Noble. Just shocked still no BLU reviews out there! I have a feeling the transfer will be good. The Film Foundation was in charge of the restoration so I am sure the Technicolor will look brilliant. I recall watching the DVD years back thinking it looked like a Disney animated film. Just makes me wish Criterion could get Tales of Hoffmann back in their catalog.

I should watch The Last Year at Marienbad again. I remember being put off at how abstract it was. I mean, I don't have a problem with the abstract nature of film - hell, I mostly prefer it - but this was rather excessive in its structure.

I absolutely love Hiroshima, Mon Amour (GIVE ME THE BLU), so maybe I'll like it more this time around.

In addition the the Wilson brothers (There are actually 3, Luke, Ownen, and Andrew) Wes Anderson's brother also has cameos or is helping on set. He even did a voice in Fantastic Mr. Fox.

His uncle, John, plays the cop. He was the only professional actor in the movie.

I heard that Hugh Jackman is going to play Jake Gittes in the upcoming remake of Chinatown. I hope criterion can pick up the rights to make blu ray transfer. Here is a pic.

Dunham’s first move as part of the Criterion family’s leadership is to bring in the entire filmography of mumblecore lightning rod Joe Swanberg. That’s right. Just days after it is revealed that Criterion now owns the rights to nearly all of director Satyajit Ray’s canon, Joe Swanberg is the next director the company sees worthy of its career-spanning stamp of approval.

It would be great to see Satyajit Ray's The Apu Trilogy. I really enjoyed The Music Room

Who's laughing now?

And I never, ever thought that in the space year 2013 I'd be buying a new Bowie album on vinyl. You're a fool if you try to predict the future.
i agree with what you are saying, but let's be honest, the numbers of units sold on vinyl is almost certainly nothing. yes, i do think there will always be a small group of niche users in most media, as vinyl has shown, but in terms of market, that number will be very, very small; hence the reason you could fetch such a price for your vinyl.

that said, i am simply not sold that blu ray discs will go the way of vinyl. in many ways, vinyl is the lone survivor.

What Criterion could probably end up doing to stay in the game if the trends change is what a lot of labels do with music...release a digital download with the purchase of the physical media.

I will definitely continue to buy Blu Ray and vinyl (fun fact, my avatar is the cover of a 7" EP my old band released in 2006).
i see the vinyl side, as it has been time tested; but, in some ways it is the lone true survivor. i am simply not sold on the idea that blu ray will survive. i do think it will be around for some time, but i just do not see the same staying power that vinyl has shown.
