Yeah, I just listened to my first ep and also found the lead up to be a slog. Haven't tried a second yet.

I listen to the News stand, where they break down announcements and rumors. It's rare I'll listen to their other shows.

Sounds good--might listen to one during my next long break in between classes.

Yikes.
What's especially disheartening is this is Kimberly Pierce's follow up to Boys Don't Cry. I hope she proves us wrong.

Wha.. ? That's insane.

I'm finding that doubtful. The excessive CGI hurts. I've yet to see a good modern horror remake.

Those are my top two aswell. Although, there seems to be quite a few who dislike Blow Out.

By the way, in honor of Ebert's passing, you should
[Show spoiler] rewatch Bad Lieutenant and read his 4 Star review

I hope she gets stinking rich so she can finance ten indie films (ala Criterion's very own Steven Soderbergh).

That leaves me with about 1 or 2 more movies potentially.

I was looking at M & Breathless as well.

Yup, that's exactly what he (meaning Roger Ebert) did. He broke down Casablanca to the point of discussing the importance of the wisps of smoke in Rick's Cafe or the way some of the background actors movements were critical to a scene ... minute observations that I never thought could ever be important or even planned.

No one sold out like David Gordon Green.

David Gordon Green on Kevin Smith:

He kind of created a Special Olympics for film. They just kind of lowered the standard. I'm sure their parents are proud; it's just nothing I care to buy a ticket for.

Oh, the irony.

If you want to see one of the most spectacularly lush films you'll ever see: Go with Last Emperor. To film inside the Forbidden City must be Bertolucci's finest accomplishment.

Breathless is undoubtably a great film, but just a heads up, there are plenty of people who only appreciate it on a formal/academic level. If you get a kick out of man on the run movies, check this one out.

Island of the Lost Souls is a great one too. Especially if you enjoy classic Universal Monster films. The weird S&M undertones, and fun special effects make it something unique and sensuous.

I didn't love Breathless but I could see why so many people do. It's a really, really nice package and I never regretted buying it.

I do love M (though to be fair, I didn't the first few times I tried to watch it several years ago). It's a great film and it looks great (don't expect it to look like Anatomy of a Murder or 12 Angry Men though).

You really can't go wrong with either one.

Kiss Me Deadly also looks great and is an awful lot of fun if you like that hard-boiled detective noir sort of thing.

And who doesn't
