[QUOTE=Zen_Amako;1853042]It's been confirmed that Benjamin Button will be region locked.QUOTE]

For those who are mad the Curious Case of B.B. is region locked I think the extras on the UK WB BD are the same I could be wrong. I kinda think that was the main reason the BD was region locked otherwise since WB's owns international rights they can make they end on it too... Although I wonder if the WB UK edition is region free.. prob so?

I was able to check out some of In the Realm of the Senses over the weekend. The picture is so much improved over the old DVD that the difference is startling. Criterion did a really nice job on the transfer, and the booklet is very informative as well.
It's sure it's region locked ?

Because, i saw here : http://www.dvdworldusa.com/shopexd.asp?id=68453

and here : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLU-RAY-DISC-T...QQcmdZViewItem

They say it's region free ... so that's why i asked (again) for the region coding of the film ... :s

I won't be covering this disc as it is not a Criterion release per se and they are not the party that is promoting/marketing it, but I did contact the Criterion agent and was told that the release will be Region-A "locked". And this is the info I posted here. I cannot comment any further as I don't have the disc with me to confirm. I am sorry -- I only related the info that I was given.

The Criterion guy says that because all Criterion titles are region locked, I'd rather have a real confirmation, and remember this is Paramount behind it all, they would be really stupid to let Criterion do whatever they want.

Just that Criterion is releasing some dynamite titles..... and I've been extremely happy with what they've put out there thus far.

That's a super nice price-drop from the previous $27.99 Amazon pre-order price! That's why it's always a good thing to pre-order these things from Amazon in case of the price drops.

this might not be a definitive reason, but 'In the Realm of the Senses' might be region locked because I'm sure if parallel imported to Japan and the UK might be seized by customs anyway since the Criterion uncut version is cut in said countries, but I'm just speculating.

I'm pretty sure Criterion is locking them as "Policy" .... not on a title-to-title basis.... but I could be wrong.

Unfortunately, I can relate to you very early only what the studios are willing to reveal. Obviously, without the disc in hand, this is as much as I could be of assistance to the community.

I really don't understand the point of this "Criterion" Benjamin Button release. The only way I could is if Criterion was doing it to make some extra cash by releasing a mainstream film. It doesn't really seem to be of any extra benefit to PHE, especially if the extras are released on the international discs that don't bear the "Criterion" title (though I'm obviously not sure they will). In the beginning, I felt certain that the Criterion disc would be locked like all their other Blu-rays. Now, with Pro-B and others finding that Paramount are still quite involved in the release of the disc, to the point that the Blu-ray SRP in the Criterion store is slightly higher ($32.00) than their regular SRP of $31.96 (the DVD SRP is $27.99, which is $3.97 lower), I just don't know what to think anymore. I wish somebody would come out with some info on the decision to release it this way.

After looking at all the trailers for the movies you can vote for my vote goes for the movie Kwaidan.

Out of the Criterion blu-rays on sale it's a tie on which one i'm thinking of buying. It's a tie between The Last Emperor or The Man Who Fell to Earth.

Howard's End will make it someday, but many other films deserve Blu-ray treatment in comparison to it.

EDIT: And while I appreciate the sale link, at least at this time, that "sale" is kind of worthless. Most are between $24.49-$25.49, when the Amazon.com standard price is usually $26.99. The 400 Blows has been $21.99 for a while now. Much more interesting was the price drop of the For All Mankind Blu-ray, which recently dropped from $26.99 to $19.99.
