A good choice for a Criterion BD release would be The Children's Hour from MGM. The DVD is non-anamorphic, and we need more Audrey Hepburn on blu-ray.

I don't think they will release it either, but it would be cool. They have a cover for the blu-ray if you look it up. Although Benjamin Button was pretty high profile, wasn't it?

I think BB was the 1 time exception to the rule (sadly). It wasn't a full fledged Criterion release either.

I would love to see more mainstream films on the label however.

Same here. I don't expect them to release "big" movies, but I can't help feeling that The Master or Moonrise Kingdom could've had some great releases.

Moonrise could always get a criterion release 5-6 years from now.

Well, at least I know I'll have one of the most recent OOP titles. I have never seen any of these films, but after reading a little about them I can say that it seems like I will love them all. If I have to pay upwards of $50 for the rest, then so be it. Wouldn't be the first time. (I'm looking at you, Play Time and The Man Who Fell to Earth)
I ordered Marienbad, Leon Morin Priest and Army of Shadows from ImportCDs.com on the 30th of March and today I got the shipping confirmation. They are still for sale on the site. Maybe it's an alternative for you.

I couldn't wait and decided to lessen that load a little, so I've pre-order Pierre Etaix from Amazon (along with a couple of the new Hitchcocks).
Kinda this. My wishlist is growing up to impossible lengths again, and I am trying to cut back big time on buying BDs, as there are more important things to worry about, such as food, shelter, and transportation.

Thank you for mentioning this. I already have it, but it caused me to do a quick check of Mafioso. I have 3 separate orders at different sellers trying to get this, but this is the first time I've found it with an Amazon Marketplace seller for a reasonable price ($22.00) since the OOP announcement. If it ships, I will cancel all my other orders.

Will July finally be the month where we're blessed with one (or more?) of the World Cinema Foundation titles? I can only hope. Their latest restoration, of Lino Brocka's Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag, which has previously been voted the best Filipino film of all time, will premiere at Cannes in May.

I'm still enjoying my trip through the Bond Blu-rays, but I'll drop in to list a few of my requests for the monthly announcements.

Upgrades that I want to see..

Le Samourai
The Vanishing
Bob Le Flambeur
Touches Pas Au Grisbi
Rififi
Elevator to the Gallows
Lord of the Flies
The Naked Prey

As far as new spine numbers go, I'd like...

Un Flic
Tess
Thief

I actually used to own The Devil's Backbone on DVD years ago, around the same time that Pan's Labyrinth came out. I loved the movie at first, but became bored with it upon subsequent viewings and eventually sold it a couple years back. I'd like to think that I would not bother buying it again just because it has a Criterion logo on the case, but I think that we all know otherwise. If the price is right, the movie deserves a revisit, but I'm in no hurry.

Lord of the Flies was already hinted at in one of the newsletters. That should be coming soon!

Theater!

I'm looking forward to seeing To the Wonder here in Atlanta next weekend. If at all possible, I like to see Malick films on the big screen first.

Because of the cinematography (It's Malick afterall) if you really want to see it I would wait for the theater. If you are just casual viewer like myself on demand might be enough.
