My Amazon shipments all arrived today at the same time. Woo hoo!

Pierrot Le Fou
Vivre Sa Vie
Rocky III
Rocky IV

Roughly $90 for the all of these combined, including the $60 price for the out-of-print Criterion Pierrot Le Fou.

I had initially promised myself that I would not pay more than normal price for one of the out-of-print Criterions, but I've been wanting to upgrade my Pierrot Le Fou DVD since I got a Blu-ray player, and it's sort of like one of those itches in the back of the throat that I just could not get out of my head. When I saw a $60 price for a "like new" used copy, I jumped on it. This Criterion Blu-ray is in perfect condition!

I'm also glad to have Vivre Sa Vie upgraded at long last. Between this, Pierrot Le Fou, and the upcoming Band of Outsiders, I'll have a solid Anna Karina set.

I found the first two stand-alone Rocky Blu-rays at a used store for $5 apiece, and made it a priority to upgrade III and IV for the same price from Amazon third-party dealers. Glad to have all four of the Rocky movies on Blu-ray! (Yeah, I know, but I prefer to pretend that Rocky V and Rocky Balboa never happened.)

Well, ,I ordered Leon Morin Priest in a panic when Amazon initially went out of stock, at $31 from a Marketplace seller, and it STILL HAS NOT ARRIVED.

If Criterion doesn't get around to it relatively soon, I may end up picking that one up. It's one of only a handful of Cronenberg films I don't own on blu or DVD.

Announcements are just 2 days away and I'm hoping for a good month because these are the last movies that will be available when the sale comes. Here's what I'm hoping for:
Any Lars Von Trier
Any Akira Kurosawa
Any Federico Felini
Any Harmony Korine
My Dinner with Andre
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Aguirre, The Wrath of God

Any of these and I would be ecstatic!

Hahaha!

Hope you enjoyed them! They're some of the best work that I've ever seen.

The trailer included with Naked Lunch is hands down one of the best done trailers I have ever seen.

For what it's worth, reading some of these cancellation notices and seeing the different titles being available, then not available, then available again, etc. on Amazon.com was making me a little nervous. So I called Amazon on the phone today (who I have my order with), to ask them if I should be worrying about them not being able to fulfill my order (on an OOP item), even though my order went through okay. The Customer Service person told me that as long as my order went through while the item was still listed as available, I shouldn't have to worry ... that a bluray has been set aside for me from the inventory that was available to them at the time I placed my order. I'm not sure how well I worded that, but I hope you get the gist of it. Again ... that's for what it's worth. It helped ease my mind a little bit.

Yeah, I've seen that, that's why I'm saying I hope they announce it. The timing would be right. I love Yi Yi, and I have been wanting to see Yang's other works, so fingers crossed.

Just watched The Lady Vanishes on AMC. Loved it. Are some of Hitchcock's earlier works (i.e. 39 Steps, The Man Who Knew Too Much) similar? I may have to check out some more of his early titles if they were as good as The Lady Vanishes. Thanks in advance!

I have TLV and The 39 Steps. The 39 Steps is a favorite of mine. If you like North By Northwest I think you will like The 39 Steps. Similar plot line. It may not be as polished as NBNW but it's Hitchcock all the way. TLV is a bit slow to get going but gets on a roll and on track once on the train, and never stops. Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.

My Hitchcock collection includes: The Lady Vanishes, The 39 Steps, Notorious, North by Northwest, and Spellbound. Like to add: Vertigo.
