Hi there, I'm also in Australia and I've bought a lot of Criterions during the B&N sales.
You often need to be patient, because they tend to be a little tardy compared to Amazon.
Plus, one time my order never turned up. They fully refunded the cost with no questions asked.
Otherwise, I've been pretty happy with the service and I've been able to really expand my Criterion collection during these sales.

If anyone needs to order Le Doulos, I was able to order from Amazon just now. Still says in stock. Mafioso is still out.

Anybody not jumping on the Melville titles will have a lot of regrets down the road.

Not those of us in Region 2.

I did pick up Le Cercle Rouge to see if I want to pick up the other films or not.

If Wes Anderson had a baby with Lena Dunham I would be pissed and confused. Wes can do better.

Yay Life of Oharu! I like Sansho and Ugetsu a little more, and would be more excited by a Ugetsu upgrade TBH, but I think those three all are Mizoguchi's masterpieces, and Oharu is a definite must-buy, and invaluable new addition to collection.

Better yet, they team up with the Duplass brothers to make an omnibus film.

By the way, I really liked To the Wonder, I think it's a more dichotomous, fluid and cryptic (in a good way) work than critics and audiences are giving it credit for. I think many are misinterpreting several key scenes and lines of dialogue. Upon further inspection, I suspect they'll realize that the luminous images coupled with contrapuntal narration offer something more complex than a " perfume ad" or an actor's "vanity project."

Cyrus was one of the worst movies that I have ever seen. Also, To The Wonder is not playing anywhere near me.

Everybody figured that it was the case from the start, so nobody is really surprised

If / when Lena Dunham has a baby, she will probably have cameras document the whole messy affair in graphic detail, and critics will slobber over it and call it art, just like her slightly less scripted version of The Hills.

Not an LD fan. AT ALL.

That really sounds like exactly what she'd do... it doesn't even sound like a funny exaggeration.

I can only assume you've woken from a coma and only see a couple of dozen movies. Wouldn't even make my bottom 200 movies.

I like your earlier comment about how viewers may not know how to react, as this film takes place in familiar landscapes and territory to us. I honestly felt there was something so genuinely impressive about making such simple and neglected suburban images beautiful, exactly as if they are fragments of memories of happier times--- not particularly special moments but remembered ones, perfectly reflecting a rocky relationship.

The more I remember the film, the more fond I am of it.
