Fear And Desire (absolutely terrible)
Hey, give the man some credit, it was his first film. It's not fantastic, but it's still a better film than say, A Safe Place.

Also, you own The Killing, but haven't watched Killer's Kiss yet!?

Oh wait, in that case you start with DW Griffith. Everything begins with DW Griffith.

Killers Kiss is a fun B-Noir.

I think CC got the order right. Summer With Monika is great, whereas Interlude is merely pleasant.
To each his/her own. I definitely enjoyed Summer Interlude more on first viewing, while Monika took a lot longer to grow on me.

Also, Black Moon is the only plotless film I've never enjoyed.

I wouldn't bother ranking them; they're all pretty awesome.
I think he's pretty fascinating for directing "Resistance" films, such as Le Silence de la mer, Léon Morin, Priest and Army of Shadows, but also genre films like Le Deuxieme Souffle and Le Cercle Rouge.
I often find it a little reductive when you want to rank the films of your favourite director. Sure, some don't come up to same the high standards of their best films, but I don't want to order them.
Not all of Scorsese's films are great, but do you want to put Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and Goodfellas in order? What about Kubrick's films? That would be even harder.
There are some directors that would be very difficult to rank their films because all their films are unique and masterpieces (Malick for example), but some I could make an argument.

Melville is one of them, I think I can rank. I have watch all his films, except the three mentioned, multiple times through a span of 10 years.

You have to let me off (i)scott-free - Did you not see the winky-face?

(I do have a generally bored reaction to most Kubrick though)

there has to be another. What about Brakhage or Mike Snow or I don't know Miklos Jansco, etc? (All of which I like)

It is, which is why I'm surprised iScottie hasn't watched it yet. However, he did say he owns several other Kubricks which he hasn't seen yet.

I also disagree with him on Eyes Wide Shut, as that is my least favourite Kubrick. I just can't get around Tom Cruise being in the film. Can't stand him as an actor.

I honestly don't know how to rank the Kubricks without offending anyone, as I also didn't enjoy 2001; it made me very uncomfortable watching it. I know I will never go to space, but it did make me afraid of suffocating/freezing to death. It's not a bad film, it's just one that I can't watch too often.

Thank you. He's one of those actors who, for whatever reason(s), seems to get overlooked when people name great actors from that era. Shadow of a Doubt and Portrait of Jennie are other films of his I particularly like.

I always liked Tom Cruise. Sure, he's not the best actor, but he really surprised me with Eyes Wide Shut.

I really liked the whole plot of the film. His wife tells him that she contemplated having an affair once in the past, he loses his mind - literally. From that point on, he goes onto a sexual odyssey leading him to some of the weirdest places ever.

Yes! Shadow of a Doubt is one of my favourite of Hitchcock's films. Cotton is tremendous.

Never seen Portrait of Jennie, so I will search it out.

It would be great if the movies that you did not see were more available outside France. Because of that reason, I have not seen any of them.
I need to revisit Jean-Pierre Melville's Les Enfants Terribles, because it's been a couple of years. I actually think that it's a superb movie, but it just happens to be my least favorite Melville film. It's sort of like the smallest slice of the best pizza ever made.

I agree the plot was interesting, and I do own the film. I just waited until it ended up in the 5-dollar DVD bin. I just have never actually enjoyed Tom Cruise as an actor, and honestly can't think of any film of his that I really enjoyed him in. I do enjoy several films he's been in, but because of the other actors.

IMDB claims Johnny Depp was offered the Cruise role. As much as I do enjoy him (yeah, yeah, he's been a bit of a one-note actor as of late), I'm not sure if he would have been any improvement over Cruise.

This is not heresy in Bergman's church. What did Bergman himself have to say about it?
He said that out of the 50 to 60 films he made, if 10 of them were the really good ones that he could stand behind, then Seventh Seal would be one of them.

I don't think Depp would have done a good job. Tom Cruise seems like a good jealous lover type of character actor, which is why I applaud him for his performance.

The only films I really like by him are Eyes Wide Shut, Jerry Maguire, Magnolia, Minority Report, and Vanilla Sky. The Mission: Impossible films and Rock Of Ages are pretty fun and I enjoyed the concept behind Valkyrie.

I have owned all of his movies at one point, but haven't seen them all. The Tom Cruise DVD Box Set were some of the first DVDs I purchased. I can't believe I haven't seen Top Gun, yet. Rain Man should be in tomorrow and I'll watch The Firm, as well, as those are his two other popular roles.
