Band of Outsiders makes for a great intro to Godard although it's not one of my favourites (which are Pierrot le Fou, Vivre Sa Vie, and Made in U.S.A.).

1. Bottle Rocket
2. The Royal Tenenbaums
3. The Darjeeling Limited
4. Rushmore

Breathless is my favorite Godard, but Weekend and Vivre sa vie don't fall far behind. I think all his 60's films are worth owning though.

As for Wes Anderson:

The Royal Tenenbaums
Rushmore
Bottle Rocket
Life Aquatic
Darjeeling Limited

I find the last two to be difficult to sit through.

Snicket, it is basically Godard's attempt to make a musical. I found it very entertaining, although I am biased (I enjoy Anna Karina's acting and find her very beautiful).

Belmondo plays an entertaining part in the movie also. Band of Outsiders and Alphaville are better movies overall, if you have not seen these movies (Breathless, Vivre Sa Vie and Pierrot Le Fou being the top three).

Well if we are ranking all of his films:

1.) Rushmore/The Royal Tenenbaums
3.) Moonrise Kingdom
4.) Bottle Rocket
5.) The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou
6.) The Darjeeling Limited
7.) The Fantastic Mr. Fox

I think it's funny that the house from Days of Heaven and the Bates' house from Psycho were both modeled after the same painting.

I've spent the last two 4th of July's out at Stephen Dorff's house in Malibu. Interesting guy, lol. He wasn't even there last year, but his dad came - hes a pretty successful songwriter. Not sure if I'll be there agin this year, or if he'll be there, but I was curious to talk to him about this film specifically.

Two times is a charm, since I found a perfect copy of Repo Man at the second Barnes & Noble.

Just got my copy Leon Morin, Priest and it's a perfect copy. Clean disc, perfect case/artwork, has the booklet. Well worth the 20 bucks. The seller was skybooks4u so if you see that name they are very accurate with descriptions.

Also went to my local Saturday Matinee and got a used(but very much like new) copy of Kiss Me Deadly.

Quick question: would anyone here actually ignore buying a new copy of a Criterion disc if it was missing the sticker?

I passed on a Criterion title at barnes & noble once because the price sticker was over the SIGNATURE Dir Approved sticker. the normal Blu sticker I could care less. I save the Dir Signature stickers and usually put them in portion of the booklet that is blank or inside the plastic case as long as it doesn't obstruct anything.

Wouldn't bother me. Sticker usually goes straight in the trash with the packaging.

Nope. Sometimes I think 'I wonder if I should keep this' while tossing one of the director approved stickers but that's about as much attention as I pay them.

Just a heads up: the latest Filmpsotting Podcast episode on To the Wonder is filled with Malick talk. Very much worth a listen
