I don't know whether or not to be excited about this movie or not. Hopefully he shoots it in the same style as Melancholia.
I think I know what he's trying to make us see, as well lol.

With that being said, I have a feeling it will be broken into chapters and visually pleasing like his past couple of films.

There's nothing inside those parentheses. Grammar fail.

I liked Melancholia when I saw it in the theater, but had no real urge ever to see it again. That's the only Lars Von Trier film that I've seen, though.

I can't say that I've liked any of Von Trier's work. Doubt this will be any different.

Me too. I really want to see Antichrist and The Dancer in the Dark. I'm just not sure I'm going to enjoy them as much as Melancholia. I've heard VERY mixed reviews about Antichrist.

Ditto, and the presence of Shia LeBeouf herein is even more of an incentive to stay away for me.

I've grown to appreciate Antichrist.

I think the two essential Von Trier films are Dancer in the Dark and Breaking the Waves. I can't levy much of a defense for Von Trier's sexual politics, however. Why does he make women suffer so much in his films?

Poll of the day:
Who is more misogynistic, Lars Von Trier or Paul Verhoeven?

The Boof was actually decent in Redford's The Company You Keep. I can't say the same forthe film though

Paul Verhoeven is probably more misanthropic across the board, as opposed to being simply misogynistic.

Shia LeBeouf was good in John Hillcoat's Lawless. I love that Blu-ray.

Haha. I'm on Facebook now, and Criterion just posted a picture of Lars Von Trier posing by a swimming pool.

You need to purchase Antichrist at the next BN sale.

That's the only film I liked him in and that was mostly due to Tom Hardy's performance.

I really like Verhoeven. He's undeniably the finest satirist of the last two decades.

Have you seen Soldier of Orange Owl? I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like it would be up your alley.

Another Owl related side note:
[Show spoiler] I think you will really take to Jeff Nichols' Mud. It reminded me of Stand by Me

I'm a fan of Von Trier from the films I've seen. I loved Antichrist, but Dogville is my favorite. I would love for the Danish DVD to get upgraded.

You need to get on watching it. Easily in my top 10 of the 00s.

If you like him so much, You've got to put your money where your mouth is and actually see the rest of Von Trier's films

Oh, I plan on watching it. I'm currently in the process of watching all of my movies in alphabetical order and eliminating the ones I dislike from my collection.

By the way, you said you would notify me of the films you were planning to let go of. It appears as if you let go of a bunch

Actually I have a bunch still left in buckets. Whenever I take them out of my collection, I take them out of my Blu-ray count.

I did get rid of a few though, specifically SteelBooks and DigiBooks. I'll see what's remaining and let you know after.
