I feel kinda silly doing this, but you can always check the site of where I work at, Kevtronn. Here's the link to the poster frame section.

I'm fairly certain Last Year at Marienbad is one of them. Not sure what else.

There's several Melville's that are unfortunately under the control of Studio Canal.

If someone gets Le Cercle Rouge on Blu in my hands I'll be a happy camper be it Criterion or not.

I do wonder when Criterion will put out a Melville on blu. I could see a Army of Shadows blu.

Out of the current Criterion blu ray catalogue (or MOC/StudioCanal/Kino/BFI/etc), which do you think has the best upgrade in PQ over the dvd counterpart?

I have a friend who refuses to believe putting films pre-2000 on blu ray will do anything to increase the PQ. He thinks since it's not filmed in HD, it can't be given a true HD release.

So I wanted to link him to a dvdbeaver review of one of the best releases to show him how much of a difference there actually is.

Did you make it all one big order?
Or separate orders by month.

I mean, I guess it doesn't really matter, but I was just curious.

Tell him to check out MoC's Sunrise on dvdbeaver - especially impressive given how old it its; but this is compared to previous dvd versions, not the dvd that was simultaneously released with the blu.

+1

It's great to see how amazing silent films look on Blu-ray, especially since some are close to a century old now.

Jacobsever's friend sounds like he doesn't understand the concept of film as a source material, being much higher resolution than the current HD standard. If he still doesn't get the "picture" after seeing the Sunrise screencaps, then he may just be a lost cause.

Not really a friend, I went to high school with him, we are facebook friends.

I sent him a link to Sunrise & The General.

Question about cases.
Are the double disc clear cases Criterion specific?

No. Not many companies use them, but my copy of Darksky Film's "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" has the same clear double disc case identified in your "Thief of Bagdad" picture.

I wonder if Criterion will ever release any two-disc blu-rays in similar cases? I was hoping Che would have been released in this fashion (due to me running out of room on my Criterion display rack), but they provided cases for each disc.

Jacob, if I remember correctly, CC uses Scanavo cases. I think it is this one below:

Yes, Criterion does use Scanavo cases, I believe, but that doesn't link to the 2-disc case that jacob was inquiring about.

Thanks, actually found it on that site.

http://www.scanavo.com/overlap_14mm_2_one.asp

Can you order directly from them does anybody know?

*edit* found a site that sells them, only in quantities of 100.
Don't know if I want to spend $70 bucks on 100 of them when I only need a handful.
