Just thinking that it would be best to provide this link to Criterion's monthly festival movies at The Auteurs' site. You will still need to do a free sign-up, though, if you want to view them. Lots of great films on The Auteurs' site.

I suggest watching it with the commentary on. It might help you appreciate the film a bit more. Just a suggestion.

No one's bad. I just thought it would be a more direct link. I think one of your links took you to The Auteurs' sign-up page instead of the actual films. That's the only reason I through the other link out there.

Go ahead and order "In The Realm Of The Senses," I'd say... just for the fact that it's already available. And June is such a long wait for the other two. There's nothing worse than waiting for a Criterion blu-ray to be released, ya know?

My copy of "In The Realm Of The Senses" came in from Amazon today, so it's sitting at home waiting for me. I keep trying to tell my girlfriend that it's Japanese erotica/"art"... but, she just keeps calling it Japanese porno.

Japan is also in Region A.

Is anyone going to vote in the Amazon.com/Criterion next hi-def treatment poll? It's between 4 movies and whichever wins gets the blu treatment. Who will you pick?

For some reason I don't think Amazon is controlling Criterion's destiny.... I would think that all 4 of those titles are probably slated to come out on Blu-ray, and Amazon will offer a discount for the "popular" one perhaps..... or maybe it will be released prior to the other three..... but I would highly doubt something like "Les enfants" would be forgotten about, if it didn't win the "Amazon" popularity contest.......

"We'll see what my wife has to say about it "

If neither you or your wife have seen it before, you both may be in for a surprise. If so, watch it together for the first time

XD

I have it on DVD already actually..... but she hasn't seen it..... She notices "Blu" additions to the collection now..... but the DVD collection was already "unmanageable" by the time we got married

So would Fellini's "8-1/2" and a 50th anniversary release of "La Dolce Vita"....) Admit it, there's just too many titles that should be on Blu-ray NOW...! Walkabout is one of my top choices as well. Such amazing cinematography. I'm actually not much of a Roeg fan (didn't like Performance or The Man Who Fell To Earth all that much), but that movie is just shot so beautifully.

8 1/2 would also be a must purchase, as would many Altman movies. My personal favorite is The Player.

Oh yeah...watch it with your significant other (especially the scene where she has her period).

I guess I'm late to the party (I had stomach surgery and a few other things going in life) but my copy of wages of Fear came in the mail yesterday and it came in just the kind of case I wanted/suggested months ago. A PS3 sized translucent amaray case!

Awesome!

Default Chunking Express worth a blind buy?

Well, I dunno. The film is split in half, with the first part about a policeman trying to get over a love affair, and the second about *another* policeman who gets seduced by the girl at the counter. The first half is pretty uneven (although it's really beautiful), while the second half finally gets the film moving and is a real treat. I can't give Chunking Express an "A" but I wasn't disappointed by the experience of watching it.

(In other words, try renting it first.)
